Wedding Photography and Videography Forum

I just can't catch a break!

There were two things I absolutely had to have for my wedding: the venue and the photographer. I had both picked out, and was just waiting on finances.

Well I booked the venue, no sweat. Yesterday I spoke to the photographer I was dying to have, and she's booked! The day before I called her, another bride booked her for the night before my wedding. That bride is having a Saturday night wedding, I am having a Sunday mid-morning wedding. The photographer doesn't have enough time to download the pictures from the other wedding and charge all her equipment in time for mine! I just can't catch a break!!! ONE DAY sooner and I would have had my dream photographer!!!

Guess I'll have to see if there are any out there who can match her talent/price/personality...

What do you mean she doesn't have time to download pictures? Don't they have millions of memory cards? LOL

That's a bad excuse!  She has overnight to charge her batteries...  That's too bad though.  Good luck!  I loved my photographer and it IS such a big deal!

Hi there! Saw your post and wanted to give ya a little advice if I could. One I am getting married 6 days after you!!!! and two I know of an amazing photographer AND videographer that is in Atlanta but can travel where ever you are. He is pretty cheap compared to those in his quality range. I don't know your budget but he is definitely worth lookin into. He is doing my wedding and he has a million memory cards so you won't have any problems there ;) his web site is www.chrisbrock.com. I also see that one or both of you is in the military and Chris has done a lot of USMC and Army weddings too! Hope this helps!!!

Oh no! That is so frustrating!! Can't she go buy more memory cards?!?  Anyway, check out Ashley Therese Photography.  Ashley has a great eye and is so down to earth.  She and her husband travel anywhere in the country and do not charge for travel costs, which is great!

    Good luck with your search!

I'm a photographer and that is just about the lamest excuse I have ever heard.  You're better of with someone that can afford extra memory cards and spare batteries for their equipment.  Sheesh.

It's not so much the cards, it's the batteries. They're horrifically expensive, and while there are *some* places in *some* areas that you can rent fully charged ones, those places are very few and far between. You'd hate to have THAT run out on the day, and I think the photographer's right not to try to "squeak" by - you'd hate to have your photos ruined because they thought they could eek it out.

    :) Ok, fine...

Fly me there and I'll do it!

Yes, that stinks. A Photographer's work should move you to HAVE TO HAVE them... and in my opinion, that's how it should be.

But don't fret... ask her who in your area shoots similarly to her and she should give you a comparable referral.

And if not, I may be available. I've had a couple navy weddings cancel due to deployments.

If it's someone you ADORE and have to have, and it really is just the memory cards and batteries, ask them if you could buy memory cards and batteries.  Afterward you can sell them on something like craigslist or ebay.
