Ladies [or ladies with DH's] of WoW (I am a shameless AW)

This is a post and run, in which I am just being a shameless AW:

I just needed to announce that with less than 4 hours before the expansion drops, I can say that I've finally downed the Lich King!

My guild's raiding team has been working on this fight for a few months now, and between people having babies, moving to places with no internet, and just not being able to schedule around 10 people's jobs in 4 different time zones, we have taken him down!

Ok, I'm going back to our parade in Dalaran, and then taking off for my midnight release. Squeeeeeeeeeee, bitches! Laughing

Here I am standing over a dead LK:

... ok, I'm totally done nerding out now. Ttyl!

  • Woot!  Go Meg!

I have some video game related AWing of my own.  Behold, my Christmas present from DH (he totally cheated and bought me something even though we agreed that the Wii was our gift to each other; that's okay because I'm cheating too and buying him a camera):

  • *sigh*

I have no idea what you're talking about.

All I know is one of my geeky friends/coworkers has a screen shot of the Lich King being killed and stuff posted on a bulletin board at work. So I'm guessing he's some kind of all powerful badass but that's the extent of my knowledge.

  • hey I didn't know you guys were WoW players! But now I am 'shamed of myself since I am no where near EVER defeating Lich King. :(
  • Up until literally midnight last night, the Lich King was the "final boss" of WoW, so that's why killing him before the expansion hit is considered a big deal. This is the first time our guild has actually killed a final boss while he was the current "final" boss. As of today, people can now get to level 85 and start working on level 80+ dungeons, and you can go back to fight the LK when you're higher than level 80 (Which makes it an easier fight ... but truthfully, it's still a tough fight).

Brooke, we hang out in Shandris, and if you couldn't tell by my Blood Elf, we're Horde. DH and a few of the guildies also have Alliance characters on another server (Which I might eventually do myself, the Worgen look pretty badass), but I really can't remember what it is right now.

A few guildies have been playing for years (DH has been playing since it was called "Warcraft II"), so they've had time to do things like jump servers and have tons of alts. I only started a year ago and most of that time was spent working towards getting good enough to fight the Lich King ... now that we did that, I can actually start playing around with other classes and whatnot, which I'm pretty excited about.

  • How is Catclysm then? I've been playing through the other two expansions on a private server (I know, bad me), but was thinking about spending part of winter break with WoW. I thought FI and I could make a date weekend out of it: us, glaring computer screens, cola and chips, no sunlight for a few days. Sounds romantic, right? He doesn't want to start playing WoW because he'll know he won't be able to stop (remember Runescape? yeah, he was all over that), but I think if we do the ten-day trial, we'll be ok. Lol.

WoW and Warcraft= two different types of games. Warcraft (ie: 1-3, and possibly 4?) being a RTS (which I LOATHE), and WoW being a MMORPG. RTS, or tower defense games are basically self-explanatory, you build towers/barricades/etc... to funnel the enemy into a sort of labrynthine trap to destroy them. MMORPG, instead of being the creator-builder-god, you are an infinitesimal player against other infinitesimal players, all bent on takng dwn the computer baddies through your amazing fighting skills, not your castle-building strateges (there is no building in WoW). Fun to thnk that Warcraft started with, what, only 2 races? And in WoW we are up to 12. Amazing to see the series grow...

Cataclysm is a lot of fun. I tell everybody they should try it, they made a ton of changes that, for the most part, are a massive improvement.

I started a goblin warrior, and running around in the starter area for that is so neat-it doesn't look like anyplace else in the game, it looks kind of like the setting of the Fallout New Vegas game (Which, if you're not familiar with, is a speculation on what Vegas would look like after an apocalypse). I only played that for a little bit though, because right now the started area is packed (Well, everybody had the same idea: "Omg, there's a new race! I must make one now!", lol). I'll probably give it a few weeks for the hype to die down before I move on.

I've been running around with my level 80 in the new underwater zone (That for the life of I can't remember the name of at the moment), which is so cool. They've massively improved the swimming, and once you complete the "Sea Legs" quest, you no longer have to worry about running out of breath. There's actually an underwater mount now that you can use in that area as well.

Speaking of mounts, if you meet with the flight trainer in Orgrimmar, you can now buy "flight" in the Old World, so you pretty much will not need a ground mount for anything anymore. I love this, because, let's face it, not being able to fly in the Old World was a huge pain.

Oh, and dual spec-ing only costs 10 gold now. Yes, so if you paid the 1,000 gold that it cost a few months ago, or even the 100 gold it cost a few weeks ago, you can get all ticked off about what I refer to as "Magic Jetpack Syndrome" (click below to see what I'm talking about):

  • Yeah I spent 1,000 on dual talent and now feel like an idiot.  I'm just happy Cold Weather flying is only 400g now; I'd been saving up for that.

Don't get me started on the "butt-raping" that was cold weather flying. I wore the Ashen Verdict tabard and spent hours killing things just so I could get on good enough terms to get the "discount price" of 4,000 gold.

Although, awesome fact about goblins: they automatically get a small discount with all vendors. I want to get mine leveled just so I can use her to buy stuff for my other toons. Okay, I want to level her for other reasons, but once she's high enough to go everywhere, she's going to everybody else's "personal shopper", lol.

Hahaha, no I'm not bitter about that at all. I'm too busy using all of my bitterness to focus on the fact that I'm an old married hag who has a DH that people feel sorry for Wink

Well, of course. Being bitter about something that doesn't somehow earn DH pity from people is just a waste of perfectly good bitterness.

In fact, I resent my husband so much for my own life not being perfect, it's actually why I play WoW. DH was still managing to cope with his horrible life with me because he could just "escape" into his game. I couldn't stand for that. I needed his spirit to be completely broken. I joined up just to nag and torment him even his little fantasy world. Every quest we do, every dungeon we run, is just one more small chunk of his life that I've managed to make utterly miserable for him. It's incredibly satisfying.
