p90x?

Has anyone tried it or know someone who has? My fiance really wants to do it and I am considering it...

FI and I have done it (well, tried it). I lasted about a week. He lasted about a month. I've been an athlete my whole life (swam competitively in college), but I am terrible about working out just to work out so I tend to not stick to work out routines. It was definitely a tough work out but you can make it what you want. FI definitely enjoyed it and has recently started doing it again a couple days a week.

FI's best man and his fiance also did it and actually finished the whole 90 days. They really enjoy it and I think FI's BM is doing it for the 3rd time now (he's nuts).

I haven't done it, but personally it scares the crap outta me! lol I am not fond of most exercise unfortunately....

A coupe of my male co-workes do it on and off and just hearing them talk about it makes me shudder. It's a pretty intense regime (also a diet involved as well). It's a great way to get into amazing shape, but I think it would be hard to maintain the routine unless you really like exercise or are very determined!

I've done it. Not anything consistent though (the whole 90 days). I did it while I was deployed and I loved it! It's definitely challenging, but also fun. I get bored easily, so the workouts kept things interesting. That's a maybe I'm a glutton for punishment when it comes to working out lol

I have heard great things about p90x. I agree with pp that is seems like a very intense regimine.

I have completed insanity which is made by the same people but uses your body weight. It was intense, lots of lunges and jumps but I loved it!!

FI and I are doing it now! We are really impressed so far. The first day we could barely move but it is getting easier. We have been doing it for about a week. If you decide to do it, I would love an accountability partner!

I'm trying to do it now. We started it last year and got 6 weeks in and then I had to go on a business trip and things just went down hill from there. Towards the end of the 6 weeks that we did it, our weight didn't change at all, but my dad said he could tell a difference and we both felt stronger and more fit. My cousin did the work out for the entire 90 days and he lost a ton of weight. It's really hard to stick to an hour and a half every day, but if you can commit to it then it's a great workout.

P.S. The soreness goes away after a week and a half to two weeks. It's not as bad after you get past that.

I have it, and FI has completed it - I have never tried it myself but he has mentioned doing it after we finish the 30DS in 15 days! He didn't loss any weight, but he doesn't have any to loss.. he plays hockey 4-5 times a week so he it rather fit, and he still cursed the AB one, lol... let me know if you end up trying it out!

I have the DVDs and have done them, but never for the full 90 days.  If you wanted to do it, I will start at the same time as you.  I could definitely use an accountability partner if I am going to do it.

I haven't done it, but I have heard its awesome. I think you need a pull up bar and stuff to do it though.

I am going to start Insanity after the 30 Day Shred....you could look into that one too!

My hairstylist and her husband did it last winter (except I guess they did a modified version of the diet) and were pretty pleased. She said she didn't really LOSE any weight but noticed that her clothes fit differently, that she was more toned. My sister said she did it for a stint (though I don't think this is true, I think she just wasn't eating and lost weight that way---long story) One of the PAs FI and I used to work with swore by it. He's a pretty fit guy though so I don't think he struggled much with it. And it's hard to say if he got results because...well...like I said he's pretty fit to start with. FI has the program on his computer waiting to be burned to DVDs. We were actually talking about it last nite. I would be willing to give it a shot as well for anyone that needs an accountability partner. :)

The only thing I am worried about is my motivation after a 12 hour shift at the hospital. I'm always so tired when I get home and I can see myself wimping out on those days... so an accountability partner would definitely help.

When do you all want to start?

Ditto this. Drew--are you on nights? I start night shifts tonight, after almost 5 years of days. I'm afraid that, to start with, I'm going to be tired/cranky and that the switch from eating during the day to eating at night will wreck havoc on my body. :/ I would say let's start Monday but I've heard that statistics show that starting a diet or workout regime on a Monday almost always ends in failure! Maybe Sunday???

I was hired in as a rotater. I work nights this week and next week, then I'm back to days for a few weeks. I actually kind of like nights - it's a lot more laid back, and it seems like time goes by pretty quick. I thought I would have trouble sleeping during the day, but nope! Good luck acclimating though - will you be working straight nights or rotating?

Sunday might work... let me see how quickly we can get it :)

I worked straight nights, 11p-7a, Mon thru Fri as a new grad way back when. I only did that for about 6 months when I got hired into a 3p-3a, every other weekend position. Did that for about a year and then hired onto days, combo 8s/12s, every other weekend. My new job is at a totally new hospital so I have to start over from the bottom. :/ I'm straight nights, 7p-7a, every third weekend. I remember that I liked nights but my body hated it. I was sick all the time and I actually gained weight (thought I would lose it). We'll see though... Let me know how soon you get the program though!

I am really excited to do this!  I am down for starting on Sunday.  I think doing it all together will definitely help me stick with it.

I don't plan on following the diet strictly.  I am already monitoring my protein which I think is one of the big things about the diet.  I will just keep the diet I already have in place.

You do need a pull up bar and resistance bands to do it but I think that is about it.  Maybe a chair available at a couple points too.

Good to know! If anyone wants to start in Feb, that is when I will be starting Insanity... since they are both 60 day programs we could keep each other accountable. Let me know! :)

You are definitely welcome to join in with the accountability.  p90x is atually a 90 day program.  So even if you start in February, we would still be continuing through your full 60 days.
