We did them through email. Our wedding day has passed but you can take a look at our website. www.gormanandkianna.ourweddingday.com We sent our STD's through the website and it kept people informed. It's free! I would suggest that you do them (either electronic or paper) because you are having it on a holiday. You want to make sure that people arrange to be there for the holiday insead of making other plans.

Hey Date twin! i'm getting Married on May 29th as well. Yes, I mailed save the dates to our out of town guest. I created a website that has all the hotel information. I also added a little note to our save that date that noted that this was Memorial Day weekend and listed the main hotel and other hotels in the area. go to weebly.com and create a free and easy website.

I sent my save-the-dates around the 6 month mark. I created fun postcards on vistaprint. The postcards were free and I just paid to upload my photos and shipping. It was like $20 for 50 and that's because I put a rush on the shipping. They're on my bio at greenshaw.weebly.com under DIY.I put our wedding website (separate from my bio) on the cards and just hid the pages that they don't need to worry about yet... Get hotels set up ASAP, especially since your wedding is on a holiday weekend.

I sent STD's out 6 months before our wedding in May.  I've heard of brides sending them out up to a year before if they have majority out of town guests.  I made a wedding website for my guests with all the information for our wedding including hotel accomodations and dates and times and registry information.  If you do decide to do STD's you can place your wedding website on there which should direct to all the info on your wedding plus more.  Check out www.vistaprint.com and www.magnetstreet.com which are frequently used for STD's.

I'm getting married May 15th and I plan to send out STD's by November 1st.  I'm working on a wedding website that will have all the wedding info and hotel accomodations.  If you decide to do them you should send them out as soon as you can since it's a holiday weekend.

I am working on mine now! I just went and got the cardstock in my colors and created a template on word! I'll post a pick when I finish! I included our website because I have a lot of family from out of town!

I sent my STDs out 10 months before the wedding, since I'm having a DW. I got them from www.magnetstreetweddings.com. I'll be sending my invitations out in a few weeks.

Invitation and I guess Save the Date Wedding Ettiquette recommends that you send out the save the dates 6-8 months before your wedding.  8 months usu. for DWs.  I have a planning website attached to my siggy which includes possible save the date ideas that I will use and you are welcome to take a look at it.  It's a work in progress so just bear with me.  I'm forever making changes.  I'm not sure if I'm going to put my website on the save the dates or not, because right now it's a planning website and I don't want my guests to know what the wedding is going to look like before they come.  However, you raise a good point about the hotel accomodations and the wedding website would have that info on it, so in that case it would be a good idea to put your wedding website on it.  I would not put info about hotel accomodations on the save the dates.
