"Ghetto" STDs

        Welcome my lovelies, to 7ven's, "Ghetto Tips For Saving Money On Save The Date's" 101..just playin, but seriously. My save the dates are my biggest issue at present. We haven't taken our pics yet (which I'll get to that in a moment) but I didn't want to spend an arm and a leg on getting the photos professionally done, etc, SO, I decided on a cheap alternative. I don't knock anyone who can afford it, because well, you can AFFORD it lol, but I cannot, SO, I thought that I would buy a digital camera (a GOOD digital camera), get a theme going (retro 50/60's style love) and get one of my sisters to take pictures of my FI and I at various places.
           Like, we have a couple of murals around the city, one of my FAVORITES (actually my ONLY favorite lol) of the KOP Michael Jackson. I HAVE to have a picture infront of this building. We also have one of Martin Luther King Jr, and another celebrating the Jazz and Blues scene of our city.

            I figured that we'd have more time and alot more freedom if we did the pictures ourselves and we could get our pics back instantly. They may or may not be as hot as what a photographer can do but with being able to see our pictures instantly, I think I'd be more satisfied. Also, the camera will, in the end, pay for itself because we'll be able to sna random pics of our families, ourselves and the children whenever and however we want. Also, I had the idea in my head to take my own boudoir pics by buying a tripod and experimenting with that.
            I have a decent photoshopping program, photo cards and a bomb printer so I figure why not, especially since the countdown has begun. Once the New Year hits, I'm really gonna have to step up my game so, yup, that my idea. I'm actually proud of myself since our pictures are suppose to be done next month. To be honest, I wasn't even going to take e-pics because I don't think I'm pretty at all. Like, if my FI or ANYONE whips out a camera, I'm grabbing clothes, pillows and kids to block my face. I'm trying to change this about myself but it's hard SO, doing the STDs (whether through ghetto photography or professionally) is going to be a big step for me.
           Wish me luck, I'm trying to get our "session" crackin on the 31st after I sew my dress and purchase the camera.

Another tip, if I might add:

If you want STD magnets, design them and print using Vista Print!!! {Or use one of their designs.} I spent less than $30 on 50 STD magnets. I used a coupon with 50% off of my upload and 10 free magnets. Once the upload is paid for once, you can use it over and over. Then you just place seperate orders and only pay shipping!

OR if you want postcards, design them and get 100 free using a VP coupon. Just pay about $4 in shipping. Using VP you don't have to worry about using up ink on your home printer.

Very cost efficient.

If you're really concerned, you can opt to have a STD that doesn't have any pictures. Or better yet, you can do a STD that looks like this:



This is the STD I wanted to do, but my FI nixed the idea.

Girl bye on the not cute mess you posted. I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder but you are by no means a hide your face kind of girl and I mean that. Pinch those pennies and like Ty said Vistaprint is your friend and you can make serveral orders and they will ship them together which is an extra bonus. Let us know which you decide and be sure to post pics.

Ghetto STDs huh? There is nothing Ghetto about that! We used the Christmas before and they came out awesome! It was not a professional picture.

Well, if you're ghetto then I am too because I just sold my fiance on this idea (sorry girl, I had to jack this one) lolol! I think it is awesome and unique. If you take a look at a couple of the photos on my profile, we took them ourselves and they look good (to us anyway), so we're TOTALLY doing this!
