I am so very happy that I finally got my guest list under 300!! Granted, it's only down to about 280 but I am making progress! This is not an easy task for me.

    Yay! congrats. shaving down a guest list is hard especially when you have many close friends, or lots of family.  Girl whats your secret, because I do not know how to shave my list down.  My parents have too many friends that they want to invite.

    Thats the secret right there. Your parents friends. . .my FI's mother wanted to invite her whole office, but I had to put my foot down! She got five seats!

    I'm struggling with this as well

    @mrandmrsjohnson - FI's mom has 70 people on her list!!  Some are family, but a lot are co-workers as well.  I'm still trying to put my foot down lol

    I'm happy for you as well. I have a large family, (aunts, uncle's cousin's) so it's hard to set a limit. But we set a limit of 200 people. Hopefully we can stick to it. :~)

    That's not bad at all! We invited about 280 and had about 220 show up. So you're doing good! :)

    In the end, sure its more mouths to feed, but its such an amazing feeling to have all your friends & family there to support you its all worth it :)

    Thanks everyone!! Even FI was excited when I told him last night. I have a large family so I don't think it will go down much more but I eliminated some people who I had just because they invited me to their weddings and so on. I just told myself if I haven't seen them in over a year they didn't really need to be invited.

    girl you should be SHOUTING to the mountains cuz shaving do a guest list is very hard work but you gotta do what you gotta do - CONGRATS!!

    oh one thing I read on an etiquette board, the TK board though, is that if you or your FI and/or your parents haven't talked to a particular person in over 12 months then you shouldn't feel obligated to invite them to your wedding...
