Wedding Woes

::Can't Wait::

I have been thinking of you....and not in a creepy skin suit making way. But in the 'To Shoot a Mockingbird' kind of way.

There is a pair of mourning doves that have set up a nest on my patio. From what I have read, the males can be territorial, but as a whole, these birds are afraid of people. Doves co-parent, from what I have read, and someone is always on the nest (which I am taking to mean there are eggs in there).

Right now, the bird just sits on the nest and doesn't seem too concerned when I go on the patio. I am scared this is going to change when the clutch is hatched. In all honesty, I'm scared one or the both of them are going to peck my eyes out. Unfounded or not, that is my fear.

  • I am not CW, but we have a lot of mourning doves nesting around our house.  They have never attempted an attack on me or the dogs.  If they are sitting on eggs they will sometimes just sit there and give you the evil eye, but they won't leave those babies just to peck at you.

  • Thank you, zsa zsa. I appreciate knowing this.

  • It sounds very founded to me. I'd throw rocks at them and make them feel unwelcomed.

  • I blame myself. The nest has been there since I moved in. I should have knocked it down. I was scared of doing that and getting some sort of avian flu, but I didn't want the apt complex people doing it and telling on me for something....so it never  got done. Again, my fault.
