Wedding Woes

I'm cleaning off my old computer

I had 3GB available.  THREE.  Now you see why it was so urgent to get a new one.  I was terrified something would happen and I'd lose all my work stuff.

Anyway, I'm saving tons of files and wiping out the old computer so Son can have it.  He'll be in middle school next year and will probably need to use the computer more.

Sorry.  I know this is not interesting.

Re: I'm cleaning off my old computer

  • Did you get an external hard drive for your new computer?

I'd recommend it since your work stuff is important.
  • Not yet, conn.  But I do want to get one.  It's definitely worth it.  Right now, I'm just saving the QB backups to flash drives for each client.
  • I second the external hard drive.

  • I'll give a shout-out to Carbonite here.  Not sure if your company will pay for it or not, but I've known a few people who had their computers stolen...and guess what, the thieves took  the external hard drive sitting next to the computer, too.  Its about $50/year and you can find coupon codes for the first year.  You don't have to remember anything - it just automatically backs up your files as long as your computer is online.  It also made it super easy when we bought a new computer.  We just logged into Carbonite and asked it to restore our files.  Violin!  Done.

I also use carbonite and am a fan, though I haven't had to use it to restore yet.

We also have less than 3GB on our main computer. I need to do some major cleaning off.
