St. Patrick's Day

Sadly, no pictures. I left my phone sitting on the counter at home and DH wouldn't turn around to go home and get it.

So we went to this bar. It was one of DH"s coworker's birthday, and she was there to celebrate. We got there at 4 and meandered around looking for her.

There were two age groups there that surprised me: people who brought kids (young kids) and the elderly. And by elderly I mean people in wheelchairs and hoverrounds.

It was so dang expensive. $10 to get in, beer was $6. I wasn't drinking, and in the 2 hours we were there we spend about $70 on admission, wings, and beer. There were people who had clearly been there since the morning and I couldn't imagine how expensive it was. As an adult, I guess I can justify 1 $10 glass of wine with a dinner out, but certainly not that much alcohol. I'm old. I really am.

Just lots of bad tattoos, women wearing outfits they had no business wearing, and bros.

Lots of smokers. I feel like in this day and age, smoking has been sort of made socially unacceptable but there were a ton of social smokers there. Crazy.

We left at 6 pm because I was feeling like crap and DH wasn't into spending more money.

I guess I'm old and lame, because there was no part of that whole thing that seemed like any fun. 21 yo PMeg would have been totally into it, but 30 yo PMeg thinks the idea of drinking overpriced Budlight in a tent while sloppily making out with a guy is no fun.

Re: St. Patrick's Day

  • I forget people can actually smoke in bars in other states.

This is why I'd rather drink at home.  I can get good and drunk for less than $10 and don't have to worry about driving.

  • They can smoke outside here. So the bar was inside and open, and they blocked off part of the parking lot and put a tent up. The tent qualifies as outdoors so smokers every where.
  • dh and i were walking behind a smoker at the grocery store.  i have never smelled such an intense smoke smell come of a person who wasn't actively smoking, like, five cigarettes at once.

i can't remember the last time i saw someone smoke in a bar.  it's like as rare as a blockbuster video store.

I was a smoker when the ban came here and it STILL mad me happy.

So is there a reason for no drinking or are you still in the 2 ww.
  • I was the driver. AZ has really strict DUI laws, and generally DH drives. I returned the favor. And still doing the 2WW, tomorrow is test day.

Gotcha.  Just wondering if it was a sneaky announcement.
  • Well honestly, I had a faint positive this morning but I could be crazy. I thought I'd wait to see what tomorrow said before any announcement.

  • A faint positive IS a positive.  False positives are pretty darn rare.  Congrats!!

Ummm, you know this is like being in full agreement with your boyfriend that you are getting married on June 1st with a church and hall reserved and STDs sent out to all of your friends and family but claiming that you aren't engaged until he gets down on one knee in a hot air balloon over the Eifel Tower to present you with a heart shaped diamond, right?

You are pregnant. Get used to it.  :-P
