hors d'ouerves

So I'm trying to figure out how many to have per person during cocktail hour. This will start around 5, dinner will be served right at 6. They are 3.25 a piece per person. So how many pieces should I have per person?TIA!!!

Are you only going to do passed ones or are you doing the trays as well? We were going to do the crudite option, the cheeses, and then 1 or 2 passed.

Our venue recommended planning for 3.5 (passed) appetizers per person.

What time does your ceremony start?  3.5 per person seems really low to me.  However, I am not a fan of passed appetizers because I seem to always be starving at weddings.  I would have at least 5 per person.  :/

cromero: we have no idea what we're doing yet, but I need to figure it out before our final details meeting. Have you had yours yet?mutley: our ceremony starts at 4, with no change in venue.

The standard is four for appetizers but 12-14 for a cocktail party.  I've found that it depends on the crowd.  If you have a mixed age crowd the 3.5 count is good.  If you have a majority of young people, 4 or 4.5 would be better.

I would ask your caterer -- ours told us exactly how many they typically like to have per guest and it seemed reasonable.

No, I haven't scheduled our meeting yet. I was hoping to get a better count of guests before we met with them. I need to look at the appetizer menu again!
