How many RSVP's for Friday Reception

I am getting married in the Dominican Republic but having a reception back at home for those that can't make it. It looks like we are having the event on a Friday. How many people should I expect to RSVP yes/no for a Friday evening reception?

  • That's not a question that anyone will be able to answer for you.  Take a look at your guest list and ask yourself who you think will really come.  With that said, you should plan for everyone to show up so that you aren't surprised in the end.

  • I'd definitely expect less than a Saturday wedding, but you need to budget for 100% attendance to be safe.

  • It's hard to say.  You need to budget and plan for 100% attendance, until you have the 'no' RSVP in hand; some people may show up that you weren't expecting to.  I've been to a few Friday weddings and they've all had fairly heavy attendance.
  • I'm having a Friday wedding, and so far it hasn't been a problem with people not being able to attend (my invites aren't out yet though).  Most weddings have about a 20% guest decline rate, so maybe up that slightly for a Friday wedding?  I don't think anyone can really give you a number, just be prepared for 100% of your guests to attend.

  • I agree with PP's, I think you should plan for all.I will also be having a Friday Ceremony/Reception, and although invites haven't gone out yet, It doesn't seem like friends and family will have a hard time coming.

<div>Only invite the amount of people you can afford and fit at your venue.  You can't be 100% sure until you get all of your RSVP's back.</div>

Why would you invite that many people if you're worried about them all showing up? You should always budget, and plan enough space, for 100% attendance.
