Weinrich's Bakery or Bredenbecks Bakery

I have set up cake tasting in these 2 locations. First up Saturday. Weinrichs.
2 weeks later Bredenbecks. My Mom suggested both.
I know nothing about bakeries.

Anyone have feed back on either place?

Thanks in advance!!!

I went to Bredenbeck's and their cakes were good but nothing that made them stand out to other bakeries that I went to. I also did not have a good experience when them. I was about 30 mins late because of 76 traffic, and I had already left a good 45 mins. early to accout for traffic but I was still late anyway because it was that bad. So I called them to let them know that and they tell me that whenever I get here whatever I have left of the hour is what I'll get. They never told me this until I was stuck in traffic, had they told me that I would've left even earlier than the 45 mins. I gave myself. So I get there and the tasting and consulation went like any other appointment and they told me they would give me a quote via email two weeks later because they're going to a conference and won't be back. Well I never heard from them again. I didn't bother calling them to get a quote because I decided to go with someone else but it bothers me that they never got back to me. It shouldn't be my responsibilty to call them and ask them for my quote when they told me they would do it in two weeks.

My sister used Bredenbecks about 2 years ago, and the cake was good.  It was the preferred bakery of her venue, so that's pretty much what made the decision for her.

One of the bakers my venue goes through is Bredenbecks, my DOC and the coordinator there said go to them. Girls here do not like the cake there though. I am going to have a tasting there too at some point. I also can go to Lochel's. I have not heard of that place nor Bredenbecks... lol. But I will have fun tasting cakes there! Let me know how it goes though. I might end up having to get the venue to let me get a cake elsewhere. I rather not  though, that just makes more work for me.

We had a tasting at Bredenbeck's - cake was really good but we didn't like the price. We called for an appointment at Weinrich's but cancelled it after hearing the prices. The cake wasn't something we wanted to spend a crapton of money on... We went with H F Hornberger in Bensalem - The cake was delicious, looked exactly how we wanted it to look, and cost a ton less than others we looked at...

I used Bredenbecks bc it was the bakery of choice for my venue.  I had a great experience with them.  The tasting was great and even though we loved all the flavors ( i loved the lemon cake!) we went with the butter pound cake bc we figured it would please the most people.  I am not a big cake lover and I thought it was delish.  They also worked with me to do the hand-made flowers I wanted on it.  photo below.

hugz- Glad you loved your cake! It is so pretty! I never got a good response here, so I am glad I heard someone say they loved the cake. I guess to each their own.

kim - I ended up going with Miel Patisserie in Marlton, NJ. Their cakes are absolutely delicious! They have 4 different kinds of vanilla and chocolate cake and they vary in firmness. They really want to know what you like not only in taste but in texture too, which I really liked and is why they stood out to me among the other bakeries. However, since then they got rid of their PR person and I've been dealing with the owner whose been a pain in the neck and has really got me questioning whether or not I want to recommend their bakery to anyone. As much as I love their cakes I don't know if it's worth the headache.

I hear that. It only takes 1 egg to ruin the bunch. LOL or however that goes.

I would be happy if i made a yellow box cake from betty Crocker and put some yummy chocolate icing on it. :)

I love Weinrichs cakes - I live near there. However, I hear they are pricey for weddings.

My cake was included in my package so I didn't pick out a baker. My advice would be to not go overboard on the cake it is only a cake. Spend your money on more important things. I barely ate a bite of my cake that night and only really tasted it on my 1st anniversary... and shockingly, it still tasted really good.

We just got off the phone with a florist and they said do not use weinrich! LOL. To much an they have sheetcakes in the back so the cake you see isnt even what your guests will be eatting.

My friend got married at the Merion and her cake was the best wedding cake I ever had... seriously it was.

I would see who they use.

I wouldn't use Bredenbecks- my FBIL used them for their wedding this past March, and they DROPPED THE CAKE on their way to delivering it to their venue. No apologies, no phone call nothing. The groom got so frustrated he talks to the manager finally and they say the best they can do for their 6pm reception is a small layer for them to cut into..so no cake for dessert.  They had a very small wedding and this was the one thing they splurged on and it was a total waste. To me that's just awful and you don't treat paying customers like that...

Brendenbecks all the way!!!  They can come up with beautiful designs and molds for any type of theme. everything is fresh! When you go look at the window. the items in the window are actual cakes and the ice cream palor is next door.
