Rehearsal Dinner in Center City Philadelphia?

I'm having my ceremony, reception and hotel for OOT guests in downtown Philadelphia and need a convenient location for our rehearsal dinner.  Since our reception is at the Ballroom at the Ben, I'd like to have a pretty casual rehearsal dinner since the wedding day will be more fancy schmancy.

Ideally a casual relaxed restaurant that has a back room would be great.  Has anyone had or been to a rehearsal dinner downtown?  If so, I'd love to hear your ideas!  Thank you so much!

We wanted the same thing you do - we had our RD at Pesto, a restaurant on broad st.. they gave us a really great price, good food, casual and relaxed - and they had a separate room for us.  I recommend them.

We had ours at Chima (19th and JFK).  They have a large back room for private parties.  Since we were there pretty early we got the room to ourselves.  Service and food were terrific!

I don't know where anything is in the city but for my b-party my girls took me out to Bistro Romano for dinner.  Its on Lombard, the end where you can see the boats.  It is some of the BEST italian food I've had at a restaurant in a very very long time.  I say in a restaurant because my mother is probably the best italian cook if you ask me.  I've been recommending this place to everyone ever since that night.

you can check the place and menu out at bistroromano.com.

We are having ours in the back room (called the Chocolate Room) at the original Continental.  It's going to be casual... Family style with the whole drink menu available.

Thank you for these ideas.  I've never heard of any of these places so recommendations is a great place to start...I'm thinking b/c my wedding is on a Sunday that it will be harder to find a place Saturday night with the space we need. And now I'm thinking it would be ideal if we could have it near the hotel which is the Courtyard by Marriott right next to city hall.  Seems like a pricey area for restaurants so I'll have to get cracking!
