This is SUPER LONG...but I just needed to vent a little
So last night FI and I FINALLY got our registry in order -- just in the knick of time, because my mom and sister are sending shower invitations this weekend and my mom got her invite to FSIL's shower in the mail yesterday.
We had a lot of issues with our Kohl's registry -- after we registered, we went online and nothing showed up. Last night we went back there to re-do it (thankfully, we didn't have a TON of stuff on it), and we couldn't even log on to the old registry. We decided to just make a new one and delete the old one later, since there was nothing on it anyway. So we spent a little over an hour walking around the store and updating our registry, and we went to print it at the end. Since two registries came up under our name, we decided to print the "bad" one, too, just so we could see what our guests would see if they chose the wrong one. So we printed it out...and ALL OUR OLD STUFF WAS ON THERE!
It took about a week to update, apparently. I don't know what happened, but FI was TICKED. Also, one thing off our old registry was bought--so we couldn't just delete the old one. So we went home and logged into both registries online (after a bit of a struggle logging in, seriously it's the worst) and started trying to mismatch everything and condense onto one registry.
We also registered at Target and Bed Bath & Beyond, and we knew we had some doubles of stuff between stores. We didn't have time yet to log onto all three and make sure everything was in order, so we decided to do that right away. Well we log onto BBB, and there are like 15 things bought! Not only that, but one of the purchased items was our knife set, which we were actually going to switch out for a different one (it was one of the last things we put on the registry at BBB and we were tired, so we didn't actually look at all the choices, we just scanned one).
At that point, FI was facing other issues with the Kohl's registry (we were logged into both but they were both showing the old registry list...it was kind of a mess) and I told him the knife set was bought and we both kind of panicked. We knew it had to have been his mom, so he called her.
OMG, we totally shouldn't have called her in that moment of panic. After thinking about it for just like ten seconds I realized we can always exchange them, and it's not that big a deal, and that his mom and/or sister were going to surprise us with the knife set (it was one of the things we put on the registry pretty much planning to buy ourselves after the wedding, since it was so expensive). But by that point the damage was done, and we had already freaked out on the phone with his mom that the knife set was bought and it wasn't the knife set we wanted and blah blah blah. I felt SO BAD.
We ended up sending both his mom and sister an email apologizing, and explaining that we hadn't had time to go through everything yet and that's the only reason we logged on and saw that they were purchased and blah blah, but I just feel horrible. Here they are trying to do a really, really nice thing for us, and we freaked out about it.

FI is still worried they'll feel bad if they come over and see a different knife set from the one they bought us, but I think now that they know what's up and why it happened they'll be okay with it. I just feel so bad for getting so panicky and ruining her surprise

Anyway...just needed to vent. And get that off my chest. Registries are a bit evil!! I'm going to do everything I can to not look at it from now on, because I felt so bad knowing what we're getting....
