Westin Pasadena - won't negotiate on attrition rate for room block!

Has anyone else tried to reserve a block of rooms at the Westin Pasadena?  I'm trying to reserve 30 rooms for October 2010 and the sales manager refuses to negotiate on the 80% attrition rate (even though the Hilton and Sheraton a couple of blocks away don't have this requirement).  The Westin is adjacent to our church, however, and closer to our reception site, and the rate they quoted was very good.  Has anyone else had this problem with them?

They told us the same thing. So we didn't get a block there, and instead just got blocks at the Hilton and Courtyard by Marriott, which didn't have that requirement. Their loss, I say.

Well, do you have a problem with the attrition rate? Honestly, my attrition rate is 90%, so I just blocked a smaller number of rooms.

I agree with pp. Don't actually reserve the amount of rooms that you think you need. Reserve less. They will always let you add more, if there is availability. I reserved 10 initially and ended up getting a lot more.
