From the start of our relationship ( almost 5 years ago) my now fiance had been promising to take me ice skating. Just a few months prior to the proposal day, we finally went ice skating for a friends brithday. Scared out of my mind, I attempted to ice skate and loved every minute of it. Jump ahead a few months and we're are going into NYC to see the tree ( i'm a huge lover of Christmas) and go ice skating at Rockfeller center with another couple. Not thinking anything of it, we circle around the ice as the sun dips behind the skyscrapers allowing the tree to shine proudly. After a few laps, he turns to our friends and asks them if they want to take a picture of the tree. Unknowing at the time, that was the cue for them to prepare for the proposal. I, of course, forgot a camera and was banking on my friend to share her pics with us. So of course I think, okay find someone to take a picture of all of us while my guy keeps telling me "no, let's just take a picture together first". Well, in my mind I felt that was rude since it was there camera and they weren't even in the picture! After the picture, I once again look around for someone to take a group shot, when I hear "let's take one more together." All I though is "you have got to be kidding me, it's not even our camera", silly I know now but at the time I had no idea. I turn to my guy and he tells me to hold on to the railing ( it was only my second time ice skating so I had a tight grip on his hand at all times) while he went down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Beyond surprised, I just regrasped him and gave him a kiss, forcing him to ask me "does that mean yes?". After the initial shock wore off, we continued to ice skate and enjoyed eveyminute of our first night engaged together.
