Eva's in Orland

I've gotten bridesmaid dresses at Eva's in Oak Lawn several times and had a great experience. However, I live closer to Eva's in Orland now.  For those who got your wedding dress there, how was your experience there?

The two Eva's aren't affiliated, and I've only been to the one in Orland.  I purchased my gown there and had a great buying (worked with me on price) and alterations experience.  When it came to timely delivery of the dress, though, I felt like I was constantly being put off and misinformed as the expected delivery date.  Every time I'd call (and I did wait until I had reached the backside of the delivery timeframe I was told), a different sales associate would say,"Oh, we expect that in next Friday."  Then, when I'd call the following Friday, I'd hear, "Oh, Pronovias only ships to New York twice a month, so and te next shipment should arrive there two weeks from Friday."  Then, "I don't know why anyone told you that-- I wouldn't expect it to arrive until next month."

In short, I felt they were fabricating stories-- attempting to push off irritated conversations with me until some later date by which the dress would have somehow magically appeared.  I found out in one of my later calls that the original dates I'd been given were just optimistic guesses meant to appease-- they were well short of the delivery date promised by the manufacturer.  The gown finally did appear (three weeks before my wedding), and they did make a concerted effort to get me in and alterations completed right away.  The gown was perfect, alterations were great, my sales associate (Judy) was awesome, but make sure to pin them down to a delivery window before you sign on the dotted line-- and make sure to ask them what delivery date has been promised to the store by the manufacturers.

I don't think it would have been as bad with BM dresses, but I didn't go the bridal shop route for BMs.  We found the style we liked (Watters) and ordered from Netbride.  No dye lot problems, no sizing issues, quicker than promised delivery, and a savings of almost $100/dress.

If you're interested, there's a full review of my experience at Eva's in my married bio.

I also ordered my dress here and my sales associate (Naomi) was really awesome.  Her daughter is getting married this year too so she was great as far as helping me get a good price for my dress.  I was told 5 months and it's now been just about a week over that and I haven't heard anything.  I call and ask and they tell me they don't know.

Well I have been having mixed experiences with them right now. The buying process was fantastic. Great selection of dresses, it was very easy, and Judy was very helpful, i loved it. Now it is the delivery that's the problem. I ordered my dress and all BM dresses back in december. I finally got my dress last week, but still no BM dresses. And we are getting married in 47 days. What if my girls need alterations?!? I'm still a bit upset about this. I'm not sure if I would recommend them. LOL! I hope that helps.

I know a few people who have had horrible experiences at this place.  One even reported them to the Better Business Bureau - I would not recommend going to this place.

Do NOT buy from there.  I am three weeks from my wedding and my dress and bridesmaid dresses are still not in.  I ordered my dress in Jan and the BM dresses in March.  I live in Europe now, and was promised that they would be in by June so planned a trip home.  The dresses did not make it.  I even extended my ticket out once I was back in the states bc they told me that July 1st would be the latest my dress is in.  For the last month, I have been dealing with different workers there and no one can tell me where my dresses are.  Every week they say they will be in by weds.  It is nice to get  a good price on the dress and alterations, but I do not think the money I saved is equal to the stress I am under now.

DO NOT BUY YOUR DRESSES FROM EVA'S!!! My wedding is five weeks away and still no bridesmaid dresses. They were 'ordered' in Feb!!!  The dresses have since been discontinued and I'm not sure they were ever ordered. They are impossible to deal with, do not return phone calls, and have NO clue what is going on. Save yourself the tears and aggravation and go somewhere else!
