I've been a bad bride

So, I'm not a super traditional bride...but I just broke one of the biggest rules. I showed Pete pics of my four favorite dresses. Not on me. On the models. If it were up to me, I'd take him dress shopping. He has great taste, and I always run any major clothes purchases by him. It felt weird to make this decision without any input from him.Fortunately, he liked all the dresses. And his favorite dress is also my favorite. I didn't tell him that, though. :)

Hi Kellie!  That's not so bad.  You want to make sure the he likes it too, right?  I showed FI all of the ones I was considering, but he doesn't know which one I ultimately chose, but I'm sure he has an idea.  I'd rather know that he liked it, as opposed to choosing something, that he wouldn't be so fond of on the big day, you know?

It's not a terrible thing to do, its actually probably more common than you think. Although, I only told my FI the designer of my dress and nothing else. Just out of curiousity, were both of your favs the lace one (I think it was lace) that you PIP'd a few weeks back?

Thanks for making me feel better. I'm glad I'm not the only one who gave their groom a little preview. I do want him to like the dress.

BoBride--The lace one I PIPed earlier is my favorite. I narrowed it down to Monique Lhullier's Kennedy, Vera Wang's Delaney, Vera Wang's 1G083, and the St Pucchi I posted. We both like the St. Pucchi best, and it comes with the cheapest price tag. Bonus! Now I just have to make the purchase. I don't want to look at any more dresses, but I'm nervous about actually buying it. I think that's why I had to consult FI. I needed a little reassurance.

He knows you the best, and probably imagined you in that dress the most, so I think it's great that you both picked the same one.  I actually used your St. Pucci dress as an example to one of my friends.  She described what she had in mind, classic, romantic, different that what most brides wear, and when I showed her that dress, she squealed with delight!  She's not near getting married yet, so no worries on her copying your dress :P

Elaine--it did make me feel good that he liked it as much as he did. I'm glad your friend liked it, too. :)

I showed FI pics of me in the dresses! I'm the same, I usually ask him for opinions on clothes and figured why not show him the dress. He liked the one I bought best too! Good thing, hahaha. The way I figure, he won't remember exactly what it looks like and the day of, the hair, the makeup, it will be like he is seeing it for the first time!

Exactly!  Even though he may have an idea of which one you chose, on your wedding day, it will be the first time that he'll see you in it and that's what matters.  He'll love it even more, seeing how gorgeous you make the dress, not the other way around :)

No worries...it's all good...you have the reassurance that he likes your top pick...he will still have that wow factor on your wedding day.  Congrats on finding THE dress!!! J. :-)

Yea, I showed my FI a pic of me in my dress. I wasn't going to, but he was positively hounding me, and I gave in. I'm 100% sure he'll forget it by next year, though, in fact, if you asked him to describe it now, he'd probably say it was white... and had flowers on it somewhere. By next year, he'll probably just remember that it was white.

heehee.. DH actually went with me to one bridal shop to watch me try on dresses.  I didn't end up picking a dress from that trip but it was nice to have DH there.  He's always pretty good at telling me what looks good on me :)It shows that you have similar tastes that you both picked the same fav!

I hear you peach mango!  I bought my dress on the mainland and my DH was my ride to the bridal shop!  I did add an element of surprise by not showing him the full get up until the day of since I had a seamstress make a jacket for me (which hadn't been done until 3 days before the wedding).  So HGLgal, you are totally golden.

LOL! Your not at all!  I did the same thing.  I showed him my favorite dresses online.   I wanted some reassurance that he liked them.  He has no idea which one I picked.
