Hor'derve Hour

To save money, my fiancé and I were thinking about having a hor’derve hour (finger foods only, no alcohol) at the ceremony site instead of a cocktail hour at the reception site. (the reception site has a preferred catering list and the caterers are expensive) Do you have any ideas or suggestions? …….My mother is convinced our family can make all the hor’derves and recruit church members to staff the hour? What do you think?

One concern with having the hor'derve hour at the church is that I'm afraid guest will spend to much time at the ceremony site and not make it to the reception site on time.

Just cut off the food at some point, and they will leave.  Or have someone make an announcement.

I would be a lil worried about getting all the food made, for me too much stress right before the wedding.  I suppose you won't be doing it so the stress isn't on you!

I see some one thing that I would suggest you think about: recruiting church members to staff - either have it un-attended or go pro. I feel like this is kind of an awkward thing to ask, regardless of whether they're invited to the reception or not.
