RSVP No's?????

ok sorry if this is a weird question, but for those of you who have sent out their invitations and/or have already had their wedding already. Did you get a lot of No's? Were you surprised at who they were?

So far about 1/6 of our RSVPs have been no's, but a lot of them are cousins who will be out of state for college at the time and can't leave, or OOT's, so we kind of expected those. I think there's only one no that has surprised me so far.

I have not had my wedding yet... but I did get my first no. I was disapointed b/c with the RSVP they included the shower invite and wrote unable to attend. Who does this? I did not even know when our MOHs were having the shower until I saw this....

Aww fitz- silly people. Thats sucks they ruined it for you! Kelly- I have not actually received any official No's yet. However, I am aware of a few but they are a) too elderly or ill to travel or b) in Iraq w/o definite leave- 3 people. I am sure we may get a few unexpected but we had one surprise yet. A family of four had a vacation planned overseas b/c they forgot about our wedding, well they rearranged their trip and paid extra money to change tickets and reservations and are now attending!

I think it depends...most of my gl is family and I knew most of them woudn't miss it for the world!  They say count on having 20% say no but I think you will get a sense since you know your guest list best.  We invited 141 and have 15 nos only...and these are from people who either have other weddings or just can't make the trip (out of towners).  I wouldn't over invite by too much...we over invited by 11 knowing there would be a few no's but we weren't toally counting on it either.

We had a lot of nos.  A few we were surprised by (since they had been telling us for months how excited they were to come). I think the economy had a lot to do with the amount of nos we got since more than half the guests were OOT.

I invited a total of 155, and 35 were no's.  Most of them I pretty much knew would not come (same people that tend not to come to other weddings/events) but there were a couple that surprised, but not shocked, me - a few older relatives, but some people just aren't up for the whole wedding thing.

We are getting a fair amount of no's, but that was expected. A lot of my family lives across the country and I assumed they wouldn't be making the trip.

I agree with Hoosier, we had more no's than we expected, even from people we were certain would come. I think the downturn in the economy was the main culprit. People couldn't afford plane tickets and hotel stays like they would have been able to a couple of years ago. We got a bit bummed out, but it ended up quite well in the end because we were able to invite people we had become close to in the year before our wedding but weren't able to invite initially because of budget / headcount restrictions.

We invited about 200 people to the wedding, the rsvp date isn't until the end of the month and so far there are 92 yes' and 2 no's...

We invited 280 and had 230 show.  We were surprised by a few no's...we were more surprised at the people who said they were coming and then didn't show.  That was more annoying than anything.
