Let's talk cake flavors

So FI & I went to a cake appointment today and are definitely planning on booking (yay!) but I'm having some trouble with flavor options.

Right now we're planning on a smaller three tiered cake and a bunch of "petite" sized cupcakes on either side of it (approximately 2-3 per person).  There is a major tasting at the end of March where we can try a bunch of different flavors for cupcakes so I'm pretty excited about that.

Now for the cake - we tasted chocolate, french vanilla, yellow, and lemon.  We also tasted a few different fillings (my favorites were raspberry and pineapple, but there was also fudge, lemon, boston cream, and apple). We could choose more than one cake flavor if we want.

So just for curiosity's sake, what cake flavor(s) did you choose?  Are you having a filling? (FI isn't so sure that he likes the idea yet). Anything of the above options that you would steer clear of for any reason?  TIA!

We did a layer of strawberry cream cheese filling with vanilla, raseberry cream cheese with white, a cherry vanilla chip and a plain ol' chocolate with vanillia cream.

The one thing you might want to keep in mind when ordering your cake fillings is whether or not they'll be like really perishable. It looks like you're having a summer wedding, so melting would be something to keep in mind. My wedding was October 8th and it ended up being almost 80, and you could tell that the cream cheese fillled was wanting to soften up a little.  Raspberry and pineapple filling sound awesome in the summer though. I bet your guests would loveeee it.

My top 2 layers were red velvet with a white chocolate filling, next layer was white chocolate cake with raspberry filling, and the bottom layer was chocolate cake with bailleys filling.

I personally wasn't crazy about the white chocolate raspberry, but my cake lady told me that it was her "signature flavor" and the one she sells the most of, so I decided to go with that.  You might want to consider asking the bakery what their most popular options are if you haven't already.

Yellow or white vanilla cake with dark chocolate mousse filling. FI likes vanilla, I like chocolate, so, it was a good compromise. 4 tiers with french vanilla buttercream. I like simple cakes.

FI and I are not fans of fruit fillings - they tend to taste like jam out of a smuckers jar - although, I liked the raspberry filling from Sweet & Savory.

So we haven't picked our fillings yet, but we are doing a funfetti cake! I'm soooo excited for it considering that the cake was the one thing I was least interested for the entire wedding.

FI and I are chocolate lovers so we are doing death by chocolate, it is a layer of brownie, chocolate mousse, and chocolate cake. We are also doing Strawberry bavarian, it is angel food cake with fresh strawberries and a whipped filling. We aren't fruit people, but I loved the strawberry and thought it would be a crowd pleaser.

    We are doing three layers:

Red velvet with cream cheese filling
    Cherry Nut with Bavarian filling
Almond cake with raspberry and cream filling

Yummy! Tasting was so much fun!

We are not serving our cake for dessert, but cutting and serving wrapped in personalized napkins.

Also, we have 4 big cheesecakes:
One is turtle, on is raspberry swirl, one plain, and one chocolate chip
