Poll: What's made you smile today?

It's the little things that always bring a smile - so what's made you smile today? My Answer:  At work I email a lot of people in different departments - especially travel to book stuff for my boss.  One of the girls I mostly email for travel I have never actually met - but today after emailing back and forth on a reservation she said: "For some reason, I love that your name shows as Mrs. (My Full New Name)!  It makes me smile."  And that in turn made me smile :)

wishin--that's so funny.  Yesterday I wrote a similar E-mail to a girl I work with who recently got married.  It makes me smile when I see her new name.  :)I smiled today when I walked out my front door when I was home on my lunch break and saw my landlord's friend's dog humping my landlord's dog right in front of my stoop.  I laughed so loud; I had to immediately call FI to share.  :)

Taking a nice walk at lunchtime down around the water, it was very calming. And the hot cup of chai sitting in front of me.

Atticus putting his head on the bed (he's tall enough to just lay it down there) while I make it.  He lifts it when he knows I need to smooth the next sheet or blanket, and places it right back once Im finished.  super cute. And another smile... since we've been married and back home, DH is so much more adorable when he puts his socks on with his dress slacks.  I smiled and giggled from around the corner of our bedroom. ;)

Evs, what kind of great dane do you have? My ILs have 4 blue ones and they're sooo sweet.

I have a rotten one that digs holes in random clearings of the backyard-- only to have them uncovered when I step 6 feet down into them. ;) I also found a pair of panties in the dining room this morning, and i'm 84% certain I didn't leave them there last night.  No really, his mom was a German (white with brown spots), and his dad was harlequin (black with white spots, or white with black-- whatever works)-- Atticus is blue with black 'drips' as I call them.. but spots, really.  His paws are bright white, and so is his chest. Danes are beautiful.  Even though he's a handful, he's awesome.  Best temperment in the world.  Only my boxer compares.

hapark: love the typewriter wedding!Ev - you have a great dane?   I have been begging DH for one (when we can afford a dog - we both want a big dog).  But he is worried about 1)cleaning up after they go the bathroom because of their size and 2) health problems and how they tend to die on the younger side.  But I'm still pushing for it and there is this great rescue out here called Gentle Giants Rescue so I'm hoping when it's time we'll go there and he'll fall in love with one.

Wishin--  I know this will have me SHOT on theknot, but we actually bought atticus from a woman who bred her personal male and female danes, they had papers, atticus doesn't, and i really don't care if he does, he was fixed at 6mo. Anyway, we tried Gentle Giant rescue...  hardest place to work with in the world.  We actually gave up on them mid way through the process.  It's possible it's just who we were working with (like that person), but 3 site visits (to a home with a backyard the size of 2 lots in our area AND fenced in), and they were still asking for more-- like mortgage documents and credit histories.   Just inappropriate.  I draw the line of adoption when I feel like i'm lending financial information for a 'free' thing.

I am smiling because my girlfriends at work just surprised me with a load of purple cupcakes for my birthday! It's not till Saturday, but one of them's out tomorrow and they wanted to celebrate. I almost started crying, it was so sweet! Oh, and re: my post yesterday about FI's schedule, he was able to swap for a somewhat earlier shift tomorrow so we'll be able to spend time together tomorrow night. I'm not sure if we'll go out. but I'm just happy we'll get to see each other!

Late on this, but: Seeing 5 Tibetan monks on the subway--they were all seriously exuding happiness, smiling with their whole faces, and everyone wanted to talk to them--each monk had a New Yorker rapt in conversation (instead of pissed off/snipping/pushing)--incredible.
