Adam & Eva Tailoring rant.....

Hey ladies,

I almost got jipped today!
so I went to this store in Medford which had been rec'd for alterations.....I needed a hem of a bm dress and the strap shortened a little.......
the guy tried to charge me $85!! plus he told me I would have to pick it up wed or thurs as they were closing til end of July - not only did I not have a way of getting there thurs or wed but what if there was a problem wit h the dress....??
at first I agreed then I sat in the car and thought, no, i being screwed here.
I then went to my local dry cleaners who alter and they quoted me $45 AND they seem to be doing a bit more detail than he told me I needed done!
even if they are awesome at alterations....I hate to think what they charge for a bridal gown if that was just a bm dress!!
ok I feel better now that I got it all out :)

Yikes, sorry that happened to you!  I wonder what the deal is.  I used her for my wedding last year and had a great experience - and she did a lot of work on my dress and only charged me $150!.  But it was only Eva who was there and I didn't deal with anyone else.

maybe I just had that look on my face of I can be ripped off easily -ha ha! I dunno but that was pretty steep pricing. the dress cost me 200 - Im not paying another 85 for a hem and strap!

So weird- I created a posting on this board yesterday requesting for tailor recs because Adam & Eve will be away until July 19th. I have been going to them for 10 years (I am short and have a weird body type so I have to get a lot of things altered). Typically I deal with Adam who is fair in what he charges me- maybe because I have been a loyal customer for so long. His wife on the other hand I feel is VERY inconsistant in her pricing- you probably have to catch her on a good day...which in my experience is rare. His wife is the one that specializes in special occassion dresses though.

I do have to say that they have gotten pricier though the years and recently I have had to have them fix my dresses twice. Also, have not been able to catch her in the store for the last 3 weeks! I am a creature of habit and keep going back to them....but I might have to take this as a sign for me to find a new tailor. Sorry I went on my own rant. Please let me know of any recs!
