Men's Warehouse-- opinions & how the sales work

Hey ladies-- I got an email from David's about Men's Warehouse and right now the guys could get $40 off their rental--which is like 10-20 more than I usually see.

Has anyone had good/bad experiences? Anyone gone to the one in Boston on Boylston?

Also--how does the "groom gets a free tux" thing work? Does he have to go last? I'm worried because my fiance and the three groomsmen are all in this area, but our dads are not, so they will probably go after my fiance goes--but I want that free tux!

My FI and I set up our account with the one on Boylston.  We worked with Nicole, she's WONDERFUL.  She calls us to let us know who has signed up and who hasn't.  We set our account up a while ago and FI's dad had a brain bleed and almost died this summer.  When she called with an update we told her and she said she'd note it in the file and to please call them if there was anything they could do.  We said he'd be in the wheelchair for his fitting and she said they could absolutely accomodate that.

We have people going to MW from all across the country and even from the Middle East and they've been able to handle everything.  I highly recommed them, they've been great to us so far.

We just used them for our wedding and weren't fans honestly.  They messed up my Dad's tux and one of the other groommen's.  It was a pain to have to go back multiple times. One plus is they did alter my nephews jacket free of charge in time for the wedding as it was too snug.  But a big dislike is that the tuxes were due back the day AFTER the wedding.  Who wants to deal with that???

We did get 2 free tuxes because we had 10 rentals.  So my husband and son's were free.

    Good luck.

I suggest going with Classic Tux.  They have been great to us so far and offer the same deal as Men's Warehouse.  You just have to put a deposit down of like $50 that  it put towards one of the guys rentals to secure the rentals.  Since the balance for the rentals are not due until the day they are picked up, that is when the free rental is issued.  You don't have to wait until everyone goes in. They make it very easy.

Anyway, as for Classic, we went with them becuase of their service for our friend's wedding this past NYE.  Our friend's dad had a problem with tux pants on the day of the wedding and someone from Classic drove out a new pair of pants. Classic's warehouse is in Beverly which is key for us Boston folks!  Men's Warehouse storage is in Texas which means the likelyhood of getting replacement items is slim.  Classic also had many more choices and had no issue with giving us a groom's try on with no hassle. Since we didn't go with the standard tux, it was important so we knew what it looked like.  We went to the Newbury Street store becuase it is the only store that has a lot of the samples and all of the vest colors to try out and match.

good luck in your search, but I would definately suggest at least checking them out.

Hi Misheyld! Thanks for the suggestion, their site seems good and I like all the locations (except not for FI's dad in PA, but oh well, no biggie).

Do you mind my asking the cost of the tux rentals? I couldn't seem to find costs there, and I don't want to put the guys in an awkward situation. I do like the 5-day rental thing, and it seems like they have a good thing going! I'm sad Men's Warehouse is such a disappointment, they would have been so easy!

I actually had a great experience with Men's Warehouse.  We went to 5 different ones and they all worked out great.  One Tux was the wrong size(that wasn't there fault, my nephew grew in the timeframe), they had the new size for us the next day at a different Men's Warehouse(easier for us to pick up).  We had ppl in different states and everything was so easy.  For the free tux thing, my husband had to give his credit card and put down a 30 dollar deposit which got refunded when enough ppl paid for their tuxes.  All the info is connected to you and your husband through the database and it doesn't matter where ppl get their tuxes.

    Goodluck!!

We had a fine experience with MW too. Our GM were all over the country so it was nice that they could go to any store to get sized and pick up. We didn't have enough people for the free rental though (although if we did, we would have split that across everyone's cost, not just H's. Only seems fair, since they are renting them for our wedding). We had no problems with sizes, and they let the guys pick them up Thurs afternoon, Sat wedding, and return to ANY MW on Sunday, I think. That way, the best man just dropped everyone's off, instead of everyone having to go back.

I wouldn't say their selection was the most outstandingly stylish or anything, but for a basic tux, whatever. We didn't price anyone else out.

FI got his suit from MW, they had a BOGO sale then too so he actually got two suits, and he was able to get them altered right there on the spot. Not sure if all the GM will wear the exact same suits, but they will all wear the same tie.

kmac821 - We got the 5 button Fubu which is certainly not popular and each guy is paying around $135.  My FI is also in another wedding next month and is wearing a standard 2 button tux from Classic for aound $149.   Prices were compareable to Men's Warehouse.  But the thing that I really like about Classic is that their warehouse is local to Boston which is a huge worry off my shoulders.   If something is wrong last minute, they have the ablity to fix it.    As for out of state people, Classic gives you a form to e-mail or send to them.  The WP can bring it into any tux shop that is local to them and get measured and send get the info back to Classic.

Thanks ladies! My FI and I are going to meet with our jeweler on Friday for our rings (if you need one-- Serjeo in downtown Boston is amazing!) and I think we'll stop by Classic on Newbury to check out the selection. I think right now I'm liking the idea of a 5-day rental, since last May my FI had to take his tux off before we left the wedding so they could get them all returned! I'd rather have a bit more time than that!

Thanks for all the help, I really appreciate it!
