don't you hate...

Having to schedule time to read or clean your house.I've been go-go since last wednesday and the OCD in me is starting to get very antsy about it all.  I haven't unpacked from the weekend.  I have a pile of clean wrinkly clothes to deal with, a pile of dirty clothes to deal with, guest room hasn't been re-made yet (from last weekend), I have some dishes in the sink, and I have to go get groceries unless H and I want tomato soup for dinner. That doesn't even include  house organization projects that I've been putting off all summer. What do you need to catch up on?

Re: don't you hate...

  • I just hate cleaning in general...  although tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches sound really yummy right now.

  • I second tomato soup and grilled cheese!
  • I cant relate - im messy. My desk is a mess, ive got clean clothes sitting in a hamper next to my closet door, ive got dirty clothes strewn all over the floor, I have atleast 5 cups half drunk spread through the bedroom/hall/livingroom, and im pretty sure a few breakfast plates (with penut butter on them) piled on my husbands dresser. Im indifferent.
  • Currently the wedding has exploded throughout our apartment, and I don't think that will be fixed until after the wedding, unfortunately

  • I'm fairly caught up actually, but 2 months of unemployment will do that to ya.  Though I haven't gotten to the yard work I planned on, but I chock that up to us not being sure what we want to do with the yard yet.
  • I'm still unpacking from the move.  I hate that we've been in the apartment for over a month and still haven't unpacked the majority of the boxes.

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010

  • Mandy, your house sounds exactly like mine.  Exactly. I need to catch up on dishes, laundry, cleaning the bathroom, vacuuming, emails and my magazine reading.  I have a Food Network magazine that I have paid no attention to.
  • Wedding TYs. I've written a bunch, but there are so many more to do.
  • Going to the gym. I have not exercised in a few weeks. I mean, I have gone but when I get there I am worried about other things I have to be doing. I just need to set aside time to be healthy.
  • I HATE being disorganized.  And that's how I've been for the past 2 months. I'm still living with my parents and we're in the process of organzing my stuff to get it out and we've started receiving wedding gifts so, there are just boxes EVERYWHERE!  The only way I can get in my bed is through the foot of the bed.  I can't walk around the sides anymore cause there are too many boxes. THREE. MORE. WEEKS.  It's like a chant.
  • I clean the house every week, but there are certain things I don't even mess with that bother me.  These include the extra bedroom/office, the garage, and the basement.  They all really need to be organized, but all the junk in those areas is my DH's.  I wouldn't even know where to start.
  • my in-laws are coming this weekend - so i have a very dirty kichen to deal with, I need to clean sheets in both rooms, do another 2-3 loads of laundry and vacuum.
  • Laundry. Oh how I hate doing laundry. It doens't help that we live in an apartment and have to walk down the hall everytime we need to do a load of clothes. Then I have to fold all the clothes, put them away, hang them up, etc.! Errrrr

  • betrothed, I have many many boxes from my move - roughly 8 months ago.  Like Nebb, I'm indifferent.
  • I'm the same way. I become a complete biitch when I have a ton of stuff that I need to do. I do not have the ability to relax until it's all done (or atleast started). Here's my list:work emails - I just need to delete them, but I hate going through my inbox.laundry - it just piles up so fast. I did every piece of laundry in the house this weekend and we are already out of towels! my sister's b-day gift - her party is tonight and I haven't wrapped it. grandparent's day craft - I need to start making something for them from my little guy, but I haven't a creative bone in my body - suggestions are welcome! :)
  • I was just thinking last night that I haven't sat down and read in far too long. I definitely need to catch up on that, and working out. Bleh.

  • I never have dishes in the sink.  Unless it's a pot soaking.  I am losing my mind.  I don't even consider myself that bad of a neat freak compared to some.

  • I hate cleaning so much DH just called and told me he hired a woman to come in next week. I really need to do the laundry.  Sad part is the washer/dryer is a whole 14 feet from where I'm knotting.  Okay I'm now motived to at least start a load.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Oh, and our closet is a big mess right now, too (mostly DH's stuff).  We need to set aside some time to organize it.
  • Vacuuming.  It doesn't help that over the weekend my cat gave herself another bald spot so I've got clumps of hair EVERYWHERE.  stupid neurotic cat.

  • I have many many boxes from my move - roughly 8 months ago. Like Nebb, I'm indifferent. That does make me feel a bit better.  My problem is that I can't find things that we really need (I think it might have been lost or stolen).  For example, we've been eating off paper plates and using plastic utensils since we moved because I can't find the plates or silverware.  Over the weekend my mom gave me an old set of silverware that she had, but I'm annoyed that I can't find my own.

  • I've got 3 loads of laundry washed, dried, and folded that need to be put away. We are getting better about folding it, but we still need to get it put away in a timely fashion. I have a suitcase sitting in my closet, empty, that has been there since last April. I'm indifferent. I've got to finish routing the tiles of the backsplash in my daughter's bathroom. I need to vacuum the stairs. Again. I can't wait to rip up the carpet from the stairs and replace them with wood. Sigh, when I'm flush again I can do it.
  • The last time we moved it was on a saturday at 1pm.  H decided we should have a canada day/housewarming party.  On the Sunday.  Yup... we had everything unpacked and set up in less than 24 hours.

  • I have boxes that haven't been unpacked since I packed them to move away to school years ago.  I really should just get rid of the stuff, but that would require opening them to make sure there's nothing we want in them.  If I can't bother to unpack stuff I need I don't know how I'll manage to unpack stuff I know we don't.  I really just need to change my outlook that every place we live is temporary.  I figure if it just needs to be packed up again in a year, why bother unpacking at all?  That will change, though, when we buy our house.

  • Cleaning too. We've been gone every weekend after the honeymoon up until this past weekend where we hosted a get-together. So after every weekend, it takes me several days to unpack stuff and THEN I have too repack for the next trip. I'd like some time at home and a grilled cheese with tomato soup too.
  • I hate laundry at the moment, but it's because we have to drive to the laundromat and pay $5 to wash and dry 1 load.  Therefore, the logical thing to do is wait until the hamper is overflowing and we have to do 4 loads at a time.  Only a little over a month before we get to do FREE (well I guess we have to pay for water, but still) laundry in our own house!!

  • I loved in with DH 2 and 1/2 months ago and still have this one box that needs to be unpacked.  I just haven't gotten around to it, mostly because I'm just not sure where to put the stuff.  I finally moved it from the living room to the extra bedroom/office, which is kind of our "junk room" right now.
  • loved = moved!  But I guess "loved" works too!
  • I hear you!  We are in the process or remodeling the kitchen, the bathroom, AND painting the bedrooms!  My house is a disaster and it driving me a little batty because normally I'm a bit of a neat freak.. I just keep reminding myself that it will (hopefully) look great in the end :)
