Question: spanx & going to the bathroom

I was going to post this on the dress or beauty boards, but they are so slow and I really appreciate P&E's opinion on these things.I was planning on wearing the spanx with the "peehole" on my wedding day, but I wasn't sure if it is actually any easier to go to the bathroom in.  I've never tried to use the peehole--I've always just pulled them down in the past.  I'm afraid I will end up getting pee on myself/my spanx.  Problem is, I also suspect that pulling them down and then trying to pull them back up in my wedding dress will be just as difficult.  I absolutely need some type of tummy slimmer with my dress, so going completely without isn't a possibility.Anyone have any experience with this/advice?  TIA!

I wore that Spanx on my wedding day, and I've worn it since under other dresses, and peeing through the hole provided works just fine as long as you're careful.  At the risk of giving too much info, it helps if you actually hold the opening open which requires a little balancing but it's safer that way in my opinion.

I'm afraid I will end up getting pee on myself/my spanx.I would fear this as well. I would just pull them down and have a friend help you pull them back up if needed. Honestly, don't stress about using the bathroom on wedding day. I thought I'd have to go, but I went right before putting my dress on and didn't have to go until 9 hours later.

I peed right before I put my slimmer and dress on and didn't pee again until I took it off after the reception. Situations arise of course, but you might not even have to pee once you put it on. Just don't drink a lot while you have it on, and I bet you won't even think about peeing. You'll be too busy having fun with friends and family.

I know A LOT of people assume that the hole in the crotch of Spanx is for peeing - this is incorrect. The reason that there is a hole in the crotch is so that they do not do what pantyhose do - bunch and sit low in the crotch. The hole/flap provides that particular area with movement/stretchability, so that they fit close and comfortably. I also plan to wear Spanx... but I have a zipper on my dress, so I plan to have a bridesmaid let me out of the dress entirely, so I can step out and just go pee as per normal. I think if you tried to pee out of this hole, you probably would end up with some residual pee on you/your Spanx (and who wants to smell like urine on their wedding night???)

Ditto the others, I put on my dress about 3:30pm and kept it on until after midnight and only peed once.

Why don't you get one with the hook and eye closure at the crotch? I think that might be a little easier.

I really doubt that getting a little pee on your spanx is going to make you smell like urine for the rest of the night, unless you were gorging on asparagus the night before.

Nebb, I have to admit, you made me laugh.For a second, after A-D posted, I thought "wow, so many women are incorrectly using that for a peehole!"  Then I looked at the spanx site again--according to the site: "Cotton double gusset makes life easier when nature calls"I usually don't have to pee very often anyway, but I guess I just needed some reassurance that I won't be facing a restroom disaster if I do have to pee.

How involved is your dress. When I wear spanx, typically I take them off to pee once and during whatever event we're attending.

Jajaph-- I tried one of those back when I was in high school, for prom.  It was a disaster!  I couldn't get the damn closure to close again after I went to the bathroom, and I ended up all hot and sweaty from being bent over, frustrated, and trying to close it.  I ended up just giving up and being "air conditioned" the rest of the night.

Then I looked at the spanx site again--according to the site: "Cotton double gusset makes life easier when nature calls"Ok then, obviously the sales lady at my bridal store is an @ss and has no idea what she's talking about. Eff her for telling me it's not a peehole!

A-D - If you read the package that the spanx come in, it says something about the hole in the crotch to make it easier to "answer mother nature's call" or something like that.  I almost couldn't believe they wrote that on the box.

Night_Sprite-- my dress itself is pretty simple, but it has a full "jacket' that acts as the overlay for the whole dress.  I initially thought it would take more effort to take the dress & overlay off to go pee, but I might just do it anyway if I chicken out and decide not to use the peehole.Thanks, everyone, for your input.  I actually feel a lot better about not peeing on myself on the wedding day next week.

You could practice ahead of time you know.  I'm sure you'll have to pee between now and next week.

A-D,  maybe she was probably embarrassed to talk about peeing?  Either that, or she was making shiit up to try to sound like she knew more than you.  I've had saleswomen do that to me before.

I'm with alisonz.  The opening definitely widens when you sit/squat.  I've worn them numerous times, and I've never had a problem with going to the bathroom and getting anything on my spanks.  Also, I've never had to hold mine open.
