price range for "day of" wedding coordinators?

Hi -  my fiance and I are planning a destination wedding in Croatia and we are managing to make a lot of connections with photographers, musicians, bakers, etc but think we'd like a wedding planner to help us coordinator things the day of our wedding.  It seems as though most wedding planners there do the whole shebang but at least one seems potentially interested in helping us coordinate things only on our wedding day.  We will meet her mid-October when we go to Croatia to try and sort a lot of stuff out.  I have absolutely no idea what might be a reasonable amount to expect for these types of services for a relatively small, simple wedding (20 guests) even in the U.S.   Anyone out there have any comments to help me figure out what is reasonable? Thanks in advance! CK

  • You might want to post this on the destination weddings board.  They might know more about this.
  • The price probably varies a lot by location but I found a day of coordinator for $500.  This includes one in-person meeting and unlimited email and phone planning before the wedding and she would handle all the details like coordinating vendors and setting up stuff.

  • From my experience in Croatia (which is fairly limited) things are MUCH cheaper. So the numbers of those in the US won't help you much.
  • I was just in Croatia and didn't find it to be any cheaper than the rest of Europe.  I have no idea about wedding coordinators, but food, drink, lodging, etc. were pretty much the same as Italy.  cmk- are you having a reception at a restaurant or hotel?  That might be one place to start.  Where in Croatia are you getting married?

  • dang! where in Italy where you staying? Italy for us (at least the 5 cities we were in) was ridiculous expensive compared to most of Europe (although Switzerland was worse). Like I said, our experience in Croatia was limited (just one city) but it was much  much cheaper. So I definitely could be wrong.
  • We stayed in Venice and hopped the ferry to Rovinj, Croatia.  I think we paid 200 EUR a night in Venice and 180 EUR in Rovinj (price was in kuna, but they converted to euros before charging us).  We got a deal in Rovinj, some places we looked at were much, much more.  Food was comparable in both cities.  I paid the equivalent of $38 for a glass of Veuve Clicquot in Zagreb.

  • Irish, we were just in Malta and Sicily and it was MUCH cheaper than France, Amsterdam and England.

  • Oh I agree with Sicily. for some odd reason I don't view that as part of Italy in my head. Don't ask why. Probably because I'm sicilian and raised that Siciliy is "better" than the main land ;)Sorry. I meant main land.
  • wow Lucy! We had very different experiences. We were in both about a month and a half ago and Venice was uber expensive. Just goes to show how everyone can have different experiences.
