For a couple reasons, FI and I have decided to change our wedding plans from July 2013 in Hawaii, to a local wedding in seven weeks. Initially our plan was the courthouse, but they only officiate ceremonies one hour per week, and it's not a time I'm available due to work.
We moved into a new home a month ago. It's a rural area, only 5 houses on our road, and the town has a population of 200. One of our neighbors came over and introduced himself as the pastor of the community church. Since then, we've spoken to him a couple times at our house, and been to the church twice for holiday affairs, but not regular Sunday services. FI and I were both raised Catholic but stepped away from that years ago. We do believe in God, but have never attended church in the two years we've been together.
We want to ask our neighbor to officiate our ceremony but I'm nervous he'll say no; this is mostly because I'm shy, and I realize I just need to get over that. However, I'm mot really sure of the best way to ask him; he has email and FB for the church, but that seems impersonal given he lives two doors down. On the other hand, I don't want to bother him at his home for a workrelated matter. The church is tiny and doesn't have a coordinator or secretary. Which contact method would be best?
