Save the Date Wording - Church & Reception in different towns

Hi All!

We are making our final decisions on our Save the Dates and I was wondering how you would suggest wording the location.  Our Church is in one town and the reception is 30 min away in another town. The hotel is in another town as well (only 5 min from the reception and we'll be providing transportation)

I know how we'll do all of this for the invitations - but for the Save the Dates, I just wasn't sure.

  • I think I would put the name of the city where the marriage is actually occurring. You can put the hotel information on a separate card (super cheap to make on VistaPrint) to stick in with your STDs and invites, and on your wedding website.

Do you have a lot of OOTs? As long as they get that they're going to have to travel, 30 minute distances are not going to really matter when they are booking flights, KWIM? As long as they know they need to plan to fly/drive from ATL to NYC for example, that's the main point.

  • Thanks!  We'll have a website that'll better explain everything - with about 80% of the guests from out of town we just want to be as clear as possible with everyone.

  • I'd do the location where the reception/hotel is located. If you live in a general area (Brooklyn, NY) you can put that as well. But if you specifically put the hotel location, your guests can either book the blocked hotel or a hotel nearby, rather than a hotel near the ceremony location. That's the most helpful, IMO. I'd also include your hotel block information on the STD.
