MGs & Lawyer knotties - Name change on deed?

I've heard it costs $200 to get your name changed on a deed in NJ because you have to have an attorney do it.  Is this true?

the only thing i heard about that was from a co-worker, he said that they bought their house 2 months before the wedding, so there was a provision that after the wedding they would change her name on the paper work, so she just sign some extra stuff at closing....sorry if that doesnt help

Do you have to change the name on the deed?  I have no intentions of doing that on my house (or on the title of my car for that matter).  Hopefully I don't run into problems later.

According to my lawyer husband...100% no.  If you have to pay a lawyer a fee, then yes.  But a person can do the name change on a deed themselves at the county records office.
