Question for Palace Brides- Fairfield Inn & Suites

Hi, ladies! I am getting married at the Palace at Somerset Park in December. Our OOT guests are staying at the Fairfield Inn & Suites nearby. The hotel offered to give us the bridal suite complementary for the night of our wedding. Has anyone seen it? I've stayed there while I was a guest at another wedding, and it was fine, but nothing special. My fiance and I do want to stay someplace special for our wedding night, and I hear mixed things about staying in the same hotel as your guest. But we will be leaving for a nice honeymoon the next day, and saving money on a hotel room for our wedding night would be helpful. We live in another state so it's not like we can go home- we will have to stay in a hotel.

Has anyone stayed in the Fairfield Inn & Suites next to the Palace on their wedding night? What was it like? What about another hotel where your OOT guests also stayed?

Hello, I was married at the Palace as well and we used the Doubletree because we liked the modern look of the lobby, we wanted a bar for after the wedding and a restaurant for brunch the next day.  The "wedding suite" was nothing special and the service was horrendous.

If I could do it all over again, I'd consider the Fairfield.  I think it's one of the newest hotels on that strip.  And I loved being in the same hotel as our guests - it was fun running into people in the hall much easier to coordinate the day.

If you have any questions at all about the Palace please let me know - I'm happy to help!

Thanks, Giaspo. My MIL chose the Fairfield because it's primarily their guests who will need a hotel. I didn't even know we had other options, lol!

When did your coordinator from the Palace get in touch with you? We are 6 months out from the wedding, and haven't heard from anyone yet. I know this is their busiest season, so we've been waiting patiently, but I'm starting to feel like December is rapidly approaching. My fiance and I are planning from a distance and will be extremely busy in the few months leading up to the wedding- as in totally unable to venture to NJ. Did your coordinator reach out to you or did you call him/her? How far before your wedding did you do the tasting, choose the layout for the reception, etc?

Hi!  We worked with Michelle Malave and didn't really start a lot of contact until July for our Sept wedding.  Our tasting was the first week of July (about 2 months out).  If you need to schedule it earlier for travel purposes I am sure they will do it.

After that, things start to kick into high gear and the coordinator will begin to confirm all the little details.  At the tasting she'll give you a checklist that pretty much covers everything including the layout of the room, etc.  Then, you'll do a walkthrough the week of with your Maitre D who will take a thousand notes to make sure everything is set up exactly how you want it.  That's when you'll drop off any "stuff" for the wedding.  I had a few boxes and bags and they put that into a locked storage closet.  I also wrote up a list of instructions beforehand (with photos) and gave that to them too.

Do you need a DOC?  I used the Palace's recommended planner, Joan Glenn from 6 Degrees of Celebration.  Worth every penny especially if you're planning from a distance.  I travel a lot for my job and it was great having a local expert to call.

  • My wedding is also at the Palace and I booked my block of rooms at the Fairfield.  Granted, I am a little biased since I work for Marriott, but it just seemed to me that the location and price couldn't be beat.  Jessica is the Sales Manager there and she was awesome and so easy to work with when blocking my rooms.  My wedding isn't until January, but so far, the process with them has been great.

I am also a Palace bride. I reached out to Michelle my event planner to introduce myself.
