Who's your pick?

Jason Rhee or Robert Wayne Photography?

I posted a concern I had about a different photographer and these two names keep popping up.  I am torn between both.  Can you please explain why you chose one or the other?

Thank you!

I chose neither, but if I had to, I'd pick Jason Rhee.

I know Robert Wayne supposedly has great books, but quite frankly, I don't like his pictures at all.  I haven't been able to figure out why he is so highly recommended on here, and was wondering if his website is a poor representation of his work.

It's a hard question to address like this.  The reality is they are both very talented photographers and are both priced very well.  I don't think you can say one is "better" than the other; they're both different.

I understand what Vivian means about liking Jason's style and how RWP's style doesn't click for her.  I'll tell you that we are 100% the opposite.  I like'd Jason's work, but didn't feel especially attracted to it.  On the other hand, Bob's work just speaks to me (I don't know how else to describe it); I love it.

They have different styles of photography, they offer different albums, they have different personalities.  The beauty is that they're both in the same general price range so you can let it be a matter of your own personal taste and preference:
      -  Who did you feel most comfortable with on a personal basis?
      -  Who "works" in a way that feels the best for you (like how they construct packages or things like turn-around)
      -  Who's style of photography do you feel a stronger sense of connection with?
      -  Who has the albums or other products that you like the most.

I don't think you can make a bad choice between these two.  It's just a matter of selecting the one that is most right for you and only you know the answer to that question.

I agree with GolfChick; they're both very good but different and it's a personal preference.

I see the difference in their two styles as this:  Jason shoots in more of a contemporary style.  Bob's images are a little more classic (which is not to be confused with old-fashioned, because they're certainly not that).  He even talks about this on his site.  Given my tastes, this is exactly what attracted me to him.

I'll tell you that I found a bunch of photographers who shoot in a style that's very similar to Jason; they all seemed the same to me.  Bob's style is definitely different and it's either something you like or something you don't.  For someone like me who prefers that more timeless style, finding Bob was like finding an oasis in a desert.  I looked at so many sites and didn't love anything I saw.  As soon as I saw Bob's gallery, i thought I finally found exactly what I was looking for.

So there's the photography, but we also liked his ala carte approach, the Zookbinder albums, his pricing, and we felt he was a real good guy.

Everyone who has booked Jason will tell you they love Jason.  Everyone who has booked Bob will telly they love Bob.  For us and our tastes, it was a no brainer, but as was already said, only you know your own tastes.

Both are talented, but I find Jason's work to be overly Photoshopped and more posed, which just isn't my particular taste. I like more natural photos which is why I would lean more towards Roberts style and voted for him. (We booked neither, but did go for a photojournalistic style photographer)

Isn't Jason backed up a yr on albums?  Another consideration.   Robert Wayne is my pick

We are going with Robert Wayne...

He was wonderful to meet with and it won't take him a year to get us our stuff.  He was the first photographer to ask me what I wanted out of the pictures for the day.Laughing
