I'm new

Hi everyone,I'm new here ; )  I'm getting married in Las Vegas next April, and I'm so glad I found this site- reading everyone's posts have been extremely helpful!  I've been to Vegas several times.. I just went in August and booked the Chapel of the Flowers... I absolutely loved it when I saw it in person.. I've been debating about where to have my reception... I see alot of people are using Maggiano's- which I've considered... but I love the restaurant right below it- Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba.  I've eaten there twice, and it was excellent.  I love the ambiance there.  Just wondering if anyone had booked or looked at doing a reception there?  Chapel of the Flowers recommends Las Pampas- and I've eaten there too... it would be convenient since it's located in Planet Hollywood.  Has anyone used them?  Also, I'm debating on how to make the hotel arrangements.. have you been able to make any arrangements with a hotel for a room block/discount or are you picking the hotel and letting the guests know where you are staying and let them kind of fend for themselves?  Thanks in advance, Tara

I looked into Cafe Baba Reeba since I love eating there too- their private party packages/prices are available online. I decided I wanted something in a different price range so I didn't pursue it very far. As far as hotel blocks- some hotels give discounts, others don't. Mandalay told us they could block rooms but not at a discount while Luxor next door would give a discount. In the end we just let everyone do their own thing and about 80% of the people stayed at the same hotel anyways but with no hassle to us. Plus there are such great deals out there lately that everyone got good rates.

We had our dinner reception at Ocean One Bar & Grill right next to La Pamps, and it was exceptional.  The manager, Brian, was still there when we visited LV again this summer.  Take a look at the pics in my bio.

Welcome Tara! I'm getting married at the chapel of the flowers too.  Which one did you guys pick?  I'm a local so I don't know all that much about hotels.  Our families are partly already here and staying with other friends and family for the weekend of the wedding as it is.  There are some other great places you could potentially do a reception at, but I agree Cafe Baba Reeba is probably one of my favorite places here in town.  I have been to several receptions at Buca di Beppo and each time it was a blast.

Hi Mary,When are you getting married?  I chose the glass gardens package... I hope the weather in April will cooperate.  I've only ever been to Vegas in the month of August, so I'll be happy to experience Vegas when it's a little cooler I hope.  Are you planning a reception on or off the strip?  Tara

Tara, We thought about the gardens but were worried about possiblity of the weather being too windy.  I'm getting married October 10th so in the end we chose to do the Victorian Chapel and doing the Regal Package.  We added an additional photo package as well.  We're doing an off stip reception at a private home because in the end we really wanted to have a small and intimate gathering. As for the weather in April its usually really nice but there are times it can be a bit chilly.  But then again, chilly for me is anything in the 60's :)   Mary
