Don't know where to start planning....

Hi.  I am new to this board.  My FI and I are getting married in April '12 ( Easter weekend), and have decided to go to Las Vegas.  It will be just the 2 of us, and frankly, I don't even know where to start.  It seems that Chapel of Flowers is the most popular venue.  Does any one have any suggestions on where to stay, or where to eat, or shows to see? 

We would like to have a late afternoon wedding, with a nice dinner and a show or something afterwards, maybe hit the casino.  I have spent hours surfing the web to get ideas, but one still doesn't really know what they are getting into when taking info off the web.  No business puts up bad pictures or descriptions of what they are trying to sell.  Not to mention, I really have no idea how far away places are from each other.  So, some direction from people who know what they are talking about would be really helpful and greatly appreciated!

First thing that comes to mind for me is if it's just going to be the two of you, do you care if it's in a chapel?  Reason I ask is because there are a lot of officiants in Vegas who will marry you wherever is reasonably possible and perhaps there are places you'd find a lot more attractive than a 'traditional' chapel?

For example, with just two, you could get married on top of the Eiffel Tower at Paris, or 110 stories up on the Stratosphere, in front of the Bellagio fountains at sunset, underwater in front of the shark tank at Mandalay, or on the balcony of Mix restaurant overlooking the strip from 64 stories and immediately have an incredible meal, then go gamble. :-)  There are so many options.

If you tell us more about what you're envisioning we can probably come up with some great suggestions.

No, it doesn't need to be a chapel.  I am open to a lot of suggestions.  I guess I was leaning towards a chapel for 1) possible web cam for the family; and 2) we will need someone to act as witness, and there always seems to be that option at the chapels.  The Web cam would be a nice bonus, but it is not a deal breaker.

As for food - we like Italian, but are willing to check out other places, too.  Nothing too spicey, though - tough on FI's stomach.

I kind of like the suggestion of the balcany of the Mix, then a romantic dinner, and maybe off to the cascino.

Besides WHERE to get married, a big issue for me is what to do immediatly after, since there is no reception to go to - seems kind of silly to get all dressed up for 20 minutes, and then go change.  I could do that here - get married and then come home and do the dishes - know what I mean?  I want to go somewhere and celebrate and do something, in our wedding attire (though I am not wearing a ball gown type dress or anything like that -something much more simple) and not feel foolish.

You can find brides walking around in their attire anywhere on any given weekend in Vegas. You can pretty much go where you like! For example we are going to fremount street for a drink and photos and then to a buffet after our ceremony and plan to end the night at pub or bar somewhere. The options are endless!

Welcome to the boards. I'm a COF bride and had a great experience with them.

For after the ceremony, a lot of couples do photo strip tours. It is really fun and you get great photos at popular Vegas locations. We had pics done at Bellagio, Venetian, LV sign, Manadaly Bay Falls and then over on Fremont Street. We used Todd Wilson for photography and he is very reasonable priced.

After that we went to dinner at Top of the World at Stratosphere. If you like italian, Maggiano's is very popular. Happy planning!

Since I will most likely use COF, and the fact this will be my honeymoon for a week I believe that we will be staying at the Comfort Suites.  This way we will have breakfast every morning we are there and one less expense to worry about.

if there is just going to be 2 of you, your options are basically limitless for after your ceramony. we had a reception, and after we took some photos off the strip with Mike L. and then went to the Chandelier Bar at the Cosmo to meet up with our friends, then to Bills for some Margaritas and then to good old Burger King at O'Sheas for some food. I stayed in my dress all night...and to be honest it was so much fun, people yell congrats to you on the street and you and your H will get so much attention (not to sound snobby).

I'm certainly not an unbiased opinion on Mix since I got married there but if you can forgo the web cam I think Mix would work great for you.  Their food and view are both incredible and you're an elevator ride away from gambling, shows, etc. afterward.  Here's a picture from their balcony:

I agree that your options are limitless for something so intimate... We had an early afternoon wedding followed by a photo tour and a light in-suite reception. After that hubby and I had a private romantic dinner booked at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant, which we completely enjoyed. The food was delicious and the view of the Bellagio fountain show made it all the more perfect. I had changed into a different dress but you can totally stay in your wedding dress all night. I just preferred not to torture my silky beauty

Later that night we met with everyone at Blush club inside the Wynn for some dancing.

if you guys are on a budget, i would highly recommend chapel of the flowers. you get a lot for not as much money as some of the other chapels. ive been on the grounds and the place is very nice. the surrounding neighborhood, not so much. but the walls keep the chapel in its own little bubble.

if you are looking to save more, i would suggest not getting married on a holiday or over a weekend. you can save a ton by getting married the monday after a holiday (provided its not part of the weekend).

and if you are looking for a budget friendly hotel, i would definately suggest the stratosphere. its easy to find, the rooms are nice and the price is pretty good. plus, there are rides at the hotel and a viewing deck that you can see the entire city from. plus, its a hop skip and a jump from the chapel
