Freed's Bakery?

Anyone use them?  They came recommended from a few people but so far I haven't been able to get a response from them via email or a voicemail that I left.  Wondering if it's worth the effort to keep trying or look at other options like Retro.

Some of the inquiries from their website go directly to spam - mine got lost somewhere.  I ended up sending them an e-mail directly to info@freedsbakery.com and got a response.

We're using them because part of our package price actually includes a $5/person credit towards a cake at Freed's.  We'll be doing our cake tasting the weekend of the 29th.

During my 6 tastings, I wasn't a fan of the person I worked with - Jayme, as she basically tried to talk me out of the cake design I wanted, and I also didn't like the cake as much compared to others, and they were on the higher end price wise.  They are definitely way busy and you can tell you're just another customer to them, whereas other places give you more of a one on one feel, if that makes sense.

I highly recommend Las Vegas Custom Cakes.  Prices are great, cake is awesome, the owner is super nice, loved her sketch, and they were on TLC's Fabulous Cakes!

Not a fan. They don't have the best service and theprices are way too high. I tried retro bakery over he weekend and they were good but not great (but their cupcakes get an A+ for cuteness)....Sugars is the best to me. Their Red Velvet is to die for and their prices can't be beat!

My sister used Freeds and their cupcakes were honesly amazing, although that was in 2008 so maybe things have changed since then by the previous reviews?

I used them through maggianos and was pleased. My inspiration wasn't a tough cake but they did a great job. Didn't eat very much because I was stuffed so I'm not sure I'm much help! :)

They have been around for a long time so I am sure they are doing something right! I hate calling people so that may have been a deal breaker for me, but if you really want to use them I would call. I have heard that they are much pricier than other places, so if you don't need to use them for a room minimum or something, I would probably go with Retro since there have been a lot of good reviews lately.

I think maybe it depends on what you're looking for.  I had sent my cake inspiration photo to Freed's and to Caked Las Vegas; Caked quoted me $400 more than Freed's.

Yeah - I mean I probably could have found something cheaper but with my venue offering the credit there it just makes it more convenient and one less thing to worry about payment wise...

Oh I totally understand, when we booked Maggianos, Creations was their only vendor. I did not even think about looking elsewhere since it is much easier to just have it all on one bill.

Freed's is amazing.  We went into their store and everyone was helpful.  We brought DD with us and at the time, they were taking promotional photos.  A lady came up to us and asked if DD could be in some of the pictures.  We said yes, she thanked us and also gave us $100 off our cake.  We found out that it was Jean Freed.  I couldn't believe it.  We also left with a marble and chocolate mousse cake for free.  She must have really liked DD.  I would absolutely recommend Freed's to everyone.
    I'm not good at feelings.

I never got a response when I emailed them off of thier website's RFP form. I called them earlier today and they were very nice and were able to arrange for us to come in on Thursday for a tasting.
Try calling during their business hours on a weekday. I avoided calling anyone Fri- Sun. I figured they'd be too busy to respond.

I've also been talking with Gimme Some Sugar and LV Custom Cakes. I'll be eating lots of cake this weekend so I will (like Sarah) come back with a full report on everyone.

    We
used freed's and were really happy with the result.  They did a cupcake tower with 6 inch round on top and a UFC championship belt for a groomscake.  The custom cake is whey we chose them, I think they do the best custom work.  Pictures in bio.

Ok, I'll give them another shot tomorrow and report back.

Happy ending; Freed's is much easier to work with by phone.  We ordered a custom cake today; three layers with white & raspberry puree, red velvet with cream cheese, chocolate with grand marnier mousse.  Aww yeah.
