June 2013 Weddings

I've completely changed everything!

New colors. Looking at two different venues. Different flowers. Everything. I feel satisfied but completely lost all at the same time.

Instead of pink, yellow, and orange, we are going with blue and most likely white. Instead of the church we attend, we are looking at Allendale Mansion and a local "park" on the lake that is absolutely beautiful. And now instead of gerber daisies, we are thinking roses. Everything is completely different now :)

  • Hey, nothing wrong with that! When you're in the brainstorming phase it's great to keep an open mind and poke around for other places, colors, concepts, etc. that you like better... it all adds up to the wonderful, finished product! What about the Maggie Sottero dress that you showed us, Sugar? Have you tried it on yet?

I don't really know what made me change everything. I liked the idea of having the wedding at the church we attend, but it never really felt right. I was tore all to pieces about parking and the church is seriously tiny and pictures wouldn't be all that wonderful there. And FI said he liked the colors, but showed ZERO interest in them. Like there was no excitement in him whatsoever. So I asked him about blue, and he then went to his closet and pulled out a blue dress shirt, and said he really liked that color. So we are going with a cornflowery blueish color.

As for the amazing Maggie Sottero dress, I called the nearest vendor and spoke to them about it. The lady told me that the dress had been out for quite some time and that if I wanted that dress I should prob ably get there within the next two months. I hadn't planned on going dress shopping until August or early September. I want to try to loose a bit of weight before I even go and try dresses on. I absolutely despise my arms!  Also, that dress is poofy, and since then I have been looking at more fitted dresses and I think I may want to go that route. I figure since I have hips, I can show em off ;)

ETA: OH! And the Allendale Mansion is BEAUTIFUL! Its not exactly near us though. But the "park" is kinda this lakefront area with trees and stuff. Its amazing. A local church owns it and rents it out for events. A family friend got married there and it was gorgeous! I think we are leani ng more towards it.

And yes I am a mess right now! LOL

ETA (again lol): It will look alot like this!

  • I love that venue!  Im so glad you found something that better suited the both of you, if it wasn't right from the beginning, good thing you were open to picking it up and throwing the idea out the door.  That's a benefit to being this far out, you have the time to change your mind.  My "colors" have changed a bunch of times

  • And I just got emailed from the even corrdinator at Allendale Mansion..."All saturdays in June 2013 are already booked." Fan-flippin-tastic....good thing we were leaning more towards the lake anyway...

  • Ahh! I know that feeling though.  I've changed my theme 3 times now.  It's like everything flips upsidedown.
  • I know exactly how you feel. When we first started planning, I envisioned a little church and then a rustic barn as a reception. I grew up in the country and always thought I'd have a cute country wedding...this has turned into a ballroom wedding in the city. ::shrugs:: it's easier for us to do this and it's less stressful.

  • We can't even do the lake/park thing. Turns out whoever we talked to about it, apparently smoked some crack or something before they got on the phone, because THEY DON'T EVEN RENT IT OUT ANYMORE! I was so crushed when I talked to them Saturday evening. The woman apologized and said that whoever I talked to must have just got confused. So we are back at square one, having it on my parents land...the beaver dammed and flooded land... I did nothing but cry this weekend.
