Hotel blocks

My fi and I are working on hotel blocks before we send stds for our June 1 wedding. We got acceptable pricing acceptable meaning prices at a better discount than can be found elsewhere online for two hotels one at 219 and one at 279, for the class of hotel we are happy and with the exchange rate we live in Europe , we are happy enough with the cost. However, in general we are fortunate to afford the cost for any of the hotels we go for our friends weddings on top of travel costs, my question isshould we try to come up with a more budget option or will these prices be hard to beat for a 45 star hotel? Is this reasonable or too expensive for a room block in downtown Boston? Any pointers are appreciated!

Re: Hotel blocks

  • Those rates are really reasonable.  The cheapest that I was able to block was $199 at the Park Plaza and $249 at the Revere Hotel.  If you use www.hotelplanner.com you can fill in the information about your event and hotels in the area will forward you their proposed rates and you can accept or decline them.  It was a lot easier than calling all of the hotels on my own.
  • Cool! Thanks for the tip!

  • Thanks for sharing that link!  I had the same question.
  • If you are leaning towards one hotel, bring the quote from a cheaper hotel in the area, and they may match it.  I found my hotel prices on priceline and expedia and brought them to the hotel of my choice and they matched it.  I was able to get them to go down almost $70 on their origonal price!  Good Luck
