So my boyfriend and I are both in college and living together, so money is definitely tight right now. I graduate in a year and a half and that is when we think it would be best to get engaged. Money would still be tight though, so I thought that a clarity enhanced diamond might be best for us. It is still a real diamond but its imperfections are either filled or lasered so that it looks a grade better than it actually is. Just wondering what you guys think of these. Honestly, i really just want to get engaged as soon as possible and don't care if my diamond is super expensive. Also, with clarity enhanced diamonds you can get ones that are a lot bigger for a lot less expensive. This is the one I really like, and surprisingly it's yellow gold which I usually hate. The yellow gold one is 1.36 tcw and the white gold one is 1.56 tcw. I know these are stock pics, but would still love opinions!

ETA: Oooh! My post isn't pink! Yay!
[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Clarity Enhanced Diamonds : I thought I knew what kind of ring I wanted. And then FI and I actually got serious about getting engaged, and I found out I wanted something completely different. I think time was a huge factor - in addition to the fact that it was becoming a reality rather than a fantasy.

That makes sense and I definitely realize that my opinion of rings could change. However, I'm not necessarily saying I am going to want those exact rings. I was just wanting opinions on the enhanced diamonds. My bf has told me he wants to get engaged right after graduation, and while I know that the timing could change, I did want to talk to him about these diamonds that could save money. Just thinking ahead I guess.

Mmm ok. Why not just say "My BF asked me what kind of rings I like, has anyone heard of clarity enhanced diamonds?"
Plus, your OP says you think it's best to wait 1.5 years..and then further down you said you just want to hurry up and get engaged as soon as possible. Kind of confusing.

Now, as far as the not having money thing. My reason for wanting a cheaper ring is so that I do have money to spend on the wedding. Also, we are living in an apartment right now, and will stay in an apartment for the same amount of money until we get married. However, starting after college I will make a lot more money, as will my boyfriend. And that will be how we pay for our wedding.
Also, it's not that we aren't getting engaged right now because we can't afford a ring. We could afford one but would rather save our money right now and we both feel like we should graduate before we get engaged. Also when I say "as quickly as possible" I mean as quickly as possible after we graduate.

[QUOTE]I'll just address your main question. I think a clarity enhanced diamond is a good way to save some money. Had I wanted a diamond, that's probably what we would have gotten.

Thank you so much for answering. I don't want my boyfriend to spend a ton of money on a ring, and I think it would be the best way to get a decent size diamond for a good price.

[QUOTE]Really I think the point here is that you are a long way off from needing to worry about any of this. There is no way to know what your finances, job situation, ect will look like after your graduate. So just don't worry about it right now.

I understand this, but I think there are a lot of girls who try to figure out what kind of ring they want. I know some people who do and they don't even have boyfriends. The point is, I really just wanted to know if anyone else had clarity enhanced diamonds. Also, if anyone had heard of anything going wrong with these rings. I really just wanted the opinion of you girls on the rings. Not on my personal life. I know I won't be getting a ring for awhile, but my boyfriend wanted to know what rings I liked, so yeah I looked.

[QUOTE]I've never heard of of it. I think the point PPs are trying to make is that you're not ready to get engaged for at least 1.5 years..so why look at rings?

[QUOTE]I second this. I also suggest that, when the time comes, you check out moissonite. =) It's sparklier than diamonds, a 9.5 on the hardness scale, and super inexpensive because it's man-made. It initially fell from the stars, so... anyway, that's my answer to your question. Ciao!

Inexpensive compared to diamonds, but I wouldn't say inexpensive! 1 carat runs around 1k
