Getting in Shape

Sweating for the wedding!

Have been running at 4:30 in the morning for 2 weeks now, just me and my chunky lab! It's been a bear to get up that early but thats really the only time I have to do it. The wedding is March 2013 but I still need to lose about 10 lbs and tone tone tone. Starting a Saturday bootcamp this weekend. Wish me luck!

Re: Sweating for the wedding!

  • Oh, man, you have so much more resolve than I do.  I haven't been running regularly because it's too hard to just get up at 5:30 to get to the office on time!  Great job, and hve fun with boot camp!
  • I don't even PEE at 4:30! I've been planning to get up at 5:30, but insomnia has made other plans and I can't do it just yet. Hoping that once I adapt to the new schedule, I'll feel more like it, even if I'm not a morning person!

  • Oh trust me ladies, im not hopping up and skipping out the door, it literally takes everything i have to pull myself out of bed. Even my dog looks at me like seriously, do i have to go with you?!?!

The will comes from the size 6 wedding dress hanging in my closet and the size 8 body that stares back at me in the mirror. Yep, I went there...found such a great deal on a gorgeous gown but it was a 6 and im an 8 so i just bought it and said I WILL fit into you dress. Hence the working out at 4:30am :)
  • I'm in the same boat! Size 6 dress with a size 8 body! I found at a big wedding show here and it fit at the time. However, I've gained 10lbs since and my wedding is in a little over 2 months! You're lucky you have will power and time on your hands!
    Good Luck!

  • I was really discouraged when I first found my wedding dress back in May. I had just finished student teaching and had gained 30lbs and had to buy a size 14 dress. I was a size 10 before. What a horrible feeling that was. But since then, I have kicked it into gear and have joined weight watchers, and started getting up and going to the gym for an hour before my FI has to go to work. It's been nice, but a struggle. I want my old size 10 body back before my first fitting in December. I know how everyone feels.

  • 4:30 is insane! I thought when I started getting up at 6am it was crazy time to workout, haha. You win! Good luck at bootcamp too. Those are awesome!

  • Wow!  That is CRAZY early!  Good for you, I would not be able to drag my butt out of bed at that hour!

You know that this is normal, right? Wedding dresses are sized smaller than 'real life' sizes - usually by 2-3 sizes. Any woman who wears a size 10 every day is likely to wear a 14 wedding dress.

Does nothing for the confidence, but it's the way it's been for years. I used to manage a bridal salon and this was the biggest issue that we faced every day.

  • I just started Bridalicious Boot Camp (a DVD set by the Knot) 3 days ago and so far I love it! It comes with an eBook to map out meals based on how many calories you want to consume that day... and the amazing thing is they actually fill you up! They have snack options for you as well and I'm known to be a snacker. But even in the past 3 days I've noticed I definitely don't snack as much. I didn't have one snack yesterday until AFTER my workout when my workout/calorie tracker app told me I had had less than 1200 calories yesterday. I'm a size 14 now and I have a little less than a year until my wedding date, so I figured the earlier I start the better off I am, right? I want to start looking for my dress in October and I hope to be down about 15 pounds by then. Good luck ladies!
  • Wow! That is serious committment! I have a hard time pulling my butt out of bed a 8am to get to work!

I prefer long weekend walks at the river, but it has been so hot here, I struggle to do more than 3 miles (I used to do 9, pretty easily). Hopefully now that the weather is turning cooler, it will be easier for me to get back in the habit.

    Best of luck!

  • Good luck ladies, I know we are all in the same boat. Dang you tiny wedding dresses!! But yes brittblaz and jennylee183 wedding dresses are not sized in real life sizes. I've just accepted the fact that the dress industry hates women!! haha!

Now go get your sweat on so you can get your fabulous body and get that dress on!!!

I feel you girl! I had knee surgery and put on 30lbs. Went from wearing a 10 to ordering a size 14 dress. (I wanted to wait to order it, but they convinced me it was better to make sure I had it ordered in case it were discontinued and take advantage of the re-size for free offer they have) So now I'm in the gym every morning before work and every other night when I get home.
Gotsta do whay I gotsta do!
