Engagement Party Invitations

Is it tacky to send electronic invitations for an engagement party? I found this site that does really cute personalized electronic invitations (not an evite) and for a lot of our friends we don't have their actual addresses.  I love paper invitations, but I am trying to figure out if its worth the cost.  The engagement party is going to be a casual affair.  I just need help drawing the line between casual and tacky.  Please help.

Re: Engagement Party Invitations

  • I think this is okay, if it's a casual party and all of your friends are Internet-savvy. I've gotten evites to pre-wedding parties before, and I didn't think it was weird.

Wouldn't it be nice to live together in the kind of world where we belong?
  • I think it's fine for an engagement party, but really you'll need their actual addresses for wedding invitations anyway so you might as well start getting them now.

  • I'm not a fan of electronic invitations.

They also don't work for everyone.  My mom checks her email either every day or once every 4 weeks, it's hit or miss.  A lot of times they go in my spam box. Some people change their email address.

That being said, I do think they're okay for pre-wedding events, but agree with Dani that you're going to need people's addresses anyway!

    Good luck!
  • Yeah, nothing wrong with that at all.  My friend hosted ours, and she sent an 'evite' ...
  • It all depends on how casual it is.  I think the evite is fine if it's super cas.

And remember it's something that's technically thrown for but not by you.
