hydrangeas and sweet peas

I am having these flowers along with others in my bouquet. However, somebody told my mom that these flowers tend to wilt and turn brown being out of water for only 20 minutes. I highly doubt this but it has my mom worried. Does anybody know if this is true?

If it is true, it's hard to believe because so many bouquets have these flowers, especially hydrangeas.

I didn't have sweet peas in my bouquet (only in arrangements) but I had hydrangeas.  They lasted for a really long time.  I was married in FL in 85 degree weather.  I kept the bouquet in water until just before the ceremony and it didn't go back in water for 7 hours.  They looked beautiful next day and lasted for a total of four days before they started looking worn.

Not if you have a good florist that knows how to properly condition them... make that happen and quiz her a bit.

most information you get from "someone told me" is not correct. Ask an expert.
we use sweetpeas and hydrangea all the time and have never had a problem.Hire someone who is educated when it comes to choosing a florist .

Hydrangeas are kind of "hit or miss" with whether they wilt quickly or not.  There must be a trick to it that I have not found.  Ask  your florist's advice.

I've never worked with sweet peas, but the combination sounds lovely.  Hope it works out for  you.

Well our florist just said we need to keep them in water every second we aren't using them. Sooo use them at the ceremony, put in water, take out to take pictures, put back in to travel, and then take out again for reception entrance. Place back in water til end of the night. It sounded like a bit of a hassle and my mom and I had never heard of always having to keep a bouquet in water when not in use.
