Do/Did You Have a Wedding Planner?!

Just a few questions for my loves!

If you had a wedding planner, what did they do {above and beyond} to make sure that your day was the best day ever?

What did they do that you wish they would not have done?

What did they not do that you wish they would have done?

I have a DOC, so I can't really answer. However, I do wish I would have hired one through the entire process. Reason I didn't is because I am a control freak and I was scared the planner may not have gotten my ideas the way they were in my head. Also, it is now frustrating getting all the emails and last minutes calls and etc... I would rather the planner to deal with all of that so I can be stress free right now. I know that didn't answer you directly, but I hope it helped you some!

I don't have one but I plan events all the time (it isn't my job I just do it) so I didn't think we needed to pay for that. But I will like to have a DOC because I don't want to be stressed on the day of!

I have a planner/coordinator. She has kept me stress free the whole time so far. Anytime I email or call she is very quick to get back to me. She very good at keeping me on budget. The fact I'm in Texas and she is in Vegas is even better. (to think I to my FI I didn't need one. glad he told me to get one<img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif" border="0" alt="Laughing" title="Laughing" />) She is really intouch with what I want for my wedding and makes a point of getting exactly what I want or as close to it as possible.

I had a DOC who came in 45 days out from the wedding.

Our DOC kept some decor stuff that we took off because of budget. She knew I really wanted them so she just left it but down sized it a little. Instead of a pillar and vase at every aisle she did one at every other aisle, and instead of draping the aisles with satin fabric she used organza.

She has a small team and they booked two weddings on the same day. It was only her there to decorate my ceremony and reception plus coordinate everything. I really wish she had split her team between the two events. She was late to the reception because she had to breakdown the ceremony, so I had to deal with alot of reception issues she should have been dealing with like seating, music, missing grooms cake etc....

I had a DOC. Even though I did most of the planning, she had all of the contact info for my vendors and vice versa. On my wedding day, if there was something that happened, I had no idea about it (I still don't know if there were any snafus that happened and I've been married for a year now). My DOC had everything running like clockwork!

I have a DOC. I only hired her as that, but she has done a planners job as well! She has supplied many things for our ceremony and reception that I thought we would have to do without at no extra charge. She always tells me, that she loves helping her bride as much as she can. I love her, she keeps me on point and (almost stress free!). She came on board in late January and I don't think I will have one thing to worry about the day of. She is about her business and I love that about her, she helps me look at things a different way. I can't wait to see how it all pulls together.

We have a planner and we sent her our guest list she printed out labels, sent out our invites and is getting all the RSVP's sent back to her, we only are getting involved with those that haven't come back or put way to many people on their RSVP. When we first started planning we gave her the names of all the venues we wanted to check out she did the initial contact and brought back the info for us so that we could narrow it down and only have to go to a few. With our vendors after we have chosen them when we do the first payment she is with us for us to do the hand off of them to her as the point of contact leading up to the wedding.

I planned my wedding myself, with help from my mom & MOH. My venue came with a DOC & she was ridiculous. She was clueless the day of & my bridal party had to tell her what she was "going to do". Everything turned out fine, but she was definitely fired....lol.

I have a wedding planner. She has found all of my vendors and saved me from having to do the leg work.  She is very creative as am I and its great to have someone to toss around ideas and make them better in the process.  She also has helped a great deal in the stress.  My wedding is still 2 months away, so I can't speak for the actual day yet, but I really can't imaging planning a 200 person wedding alone.  Sometimes your sanity alone is worth their fee.

I would like a planner even though I've done most of the leg work myself but I told FI that I WILL have a DOC and I really want her for the week we'll be there.  I found a lady I really like so now I just gotta get him on board bc like pp said I will not be stressed out the day of.

I planned the wedding myself. I'm in all honesty too much of a control freak to relenquish all that power to a planner. lol However I do have a DOC because I don't want to hear about any issues at all that day...I just want them solved! I've just had to make sure I properly communicate my dream and vision of what I want to my DOC to make sure she knows what I want that day. That's been the biggest challenge.

I have a wedding planner (one of my very good friends from college who does this for a living) & DOC coordinators who are being provided by the church and wedding venue. I have pretty much done everything as far as planning exactly what I want (not that I don't trust my planner), but because my planner is out of state, I thought I would help her out a little, and I think its fun to be involved in some of the planning.

I have a wedding planner (a family friend), but she's not helpful. It seems she always wants to change my vision. Also, when I tell her what my budget is she tries to tell me what another bride's budget is. I don't care about someone else just please do what I am asking you to do. I just hope on the day of our wedding she does her job.

I should have a planner since I am getting married in Jamaica but live in Georgia.  lol.  I don't.  Because my wedding is so small and simple plus our location does not have a package, the owner of the B & B is sort of acting as my coordinator.  All I asked for was assistance in finding an officiator.  She is trying to do food, music, etc.  lol.  I am so grateful because her willingness.  She could just say no, but she wants to go out of the way for me.  I think it is just that Caribbean hospitality.  Smile

AWESOME!!!  I need to stop being a control freak and let her do some of this for me too!  I'm just being a control freak but I know I still have plenty of time left.
