Venues

Anyone have any thoughts on venues?  I am looking for something unique and different, we will be having around 300+ guests, thanks for your input!

What are you looking at as far as budget?  That might help us narrow the net a little.

My friend just got married at International Market Square this fall, it was a nice venue for a wedding and I think he planned for that many people (although in the end there were about 200).

Yes, budget as well as ideal area/city would be helpful.

If we had a guest list that big, we probably would have gone with Nicollet Island Pavillion. Cool space, awesome area with great views of the Mpls skyline... but we only invited 80 or so people, and it just wouldn't have worked with our small-ish group.

What kind of feel are you wanting to go with? Really modern? Fancy and chic? Old timey?

I know of some people who got married at the Chanhassen Dinner Theater. I heard that it was really fun and definitely an alternative sort of location. I agree with tpender that the Nicollet Pavillion is a gorgeous venue! You can even hire the horse drawn carriages that are all over that area to drive you around.

Make sure you check out The Knot's MN Venue recommendations.  You can sort by style, size, price, etc.

We are not set on a city, any area in the twin cities/suburbs/Minneapolis/St. Paul.  The venue/food/drink budget would be around 12-13k, or less.  Thanks for all your help!!  You guys are awesome!

Check out the Landmark Center! Otherwise I agree with PP's - check out MN bride magazines for venue ideas.

Eagan Community Center fits that capacity... it is more of a banquet hall setting, but has a lot of beautiful woodwork, stone and prairie-style architecture.  They have several budget-friendly caterers to choose from!  That was my second choice venue.

Plymouth Creek Center has an outdoor ceremony site as well as an indoor reception room.  Both are very beautiful and would fall within your budget.  We are having a wedding of 200-250 there next summer.

We used St. Paul Hotel. They're a 13K minimum for Saturday nights (which seems to fit what you want!) Our experience was top notch and the staff is amazing. Truly an incredible venue.

I'll second the Profile Event Center! It's def unique and different, and depending on when your wedding is, they are right within your price range. I'm having my reception there in May, and the staff has been amazing to work with!

Profile Event Center, hands down. I had my reception there in the Diamond Hall in September and have nothing but great things to say about every aspect! 300 could easily fit in their Casablanca Hall!
