My friend used with black and white with red roses.  She also wanted a color that would pop.  It also happened that her room had a lot of red in the decor.
I would say anything will work well with Black and White and would look at the space you are using to see if there is a color there that you would like to bring out.
I have seen red used a lot and you should be able to easily find red flowers.
I don't know if you would like it, but Hot Pink could be really pretty too, or Gold.
Really any bright color would add some pop, but you will probably find those colors easiest to find for flowers.  Just stay away from dark blues since they tend to look black and may look, as my mom says "sent for and missed".
Even something like turquoise candles or ribbons on favors could be really pretty.

Anyway, yes, Black White and Red can be really classy and elegant.  Red rose buds in small globe style votive holders can be really pretty.  I also used red glass stones (floral department) for another friend's wedding.  Red ribbons. Red candles.  If your wedding is far enough away you can start looking at Hobby Lobby for Christmas items (usually set out in mid-late summer) for bright red items.  Just stay away from ornaments and garlands unless you want a christmas theme.
I found lots of cheap red and gold ribbons on huge bolts that have been good for wedding decor for my friends.  Just because it has a Christmas label on it doesn't mean it has to look Christmasy.

    Good luck.

I plan also using red to pop with my wedding colors of black and white. i also agree xmas items help a lot with the decor set up.  Dont forget small hint of other colors that suit the time of year will go to. Black and white  work with all colors but do try to stay away from using lots of dark colors b/c it will seem like your vendors didnt pay attention when the used off black or faded black items. good luck with your plans
