Hi ladies. I wanted to thank you all for the help during my planning process. I never posted that much but reading all your posts helped me a lot! I hope my reviews can help other brides also. Happy Planning!
Amber Photography World: A++++
We loved Amber! She did our engagement pictures a few months ago and they were exactly what we wanted. She completely understood the dreamy, romantic quality that we wanted and she posted a sneak peak the night of the shoot. The full disc was mailed to us a couple weeks later. She was so sweet that we felt like we were with an old friend and she spent hours walking through the park and shooting us. You could tell she really loves what she does. Her down to earth personality paired with sense of humor make a great shoot come naturally.
For our wedding a couple weeks ago, she brought her husband as a second shooter and they were a great team! Again we had a sneak peak the next day and we LOVE them so far! Her pricing is amazing for what you get and I would definitely recommend her. She will definitely be our go to photographer as long as she continues shooting.
Chic and Sleek Events: A+
Johanna was great to work with. I hired her as a day of coordinator but she always answered my calls or emails with any random questions I asked her throughout my planning process. She was there for our rehearsal the night before and helped with setup that night. For our wedding, we had the ceremony and reception in the same room, so she flipped the room during the cocktail time. It took about an hour and a half, which we expected. She set it up exactly how I wanted and I couldn’t have done it without her! She thought of all the little things I didn’t even consider. She brought a team with her and they helped with everything, including my candy bar. She even made sure our drinks were never empty throughout the night. She was great!
She's having a spring discount right now for April, May and June brides so check her out!! http://www.chicandsleekevents.com/1/post/2012/04/spring-savings.html
Amelia and Carmen Catering: B-
Richard is a great guy and was easy to work with but I was disappointed with the food on the wedding night. They were one of the most reasonably priced caterers that we could find and they included everything: food, open bar, hors d’oeuvres, linens, flatware, stemware, and waiters. We chose plated meals with a duet of filet mignon and baked mahi mahi. The rolls were hard, the caesar salad didn’t have any croutons or cheese, and the fish was bland, steak was ok. I asked them to put salt and pepper shakers on each table so that helped. They ran out of white wine at one point during the open bar but the planner asked them to go get more, which they did. The staff was very professional.
Delray Beach Florist: A+
Tom was awesome! He has a small flower shop in Delray and is not really known as a wedding florist but I would definitely recommend him! He worked with my budget and created beautiful bouquets and centerpieces. Very budget friendly! Definitely check him out!
Celebrations by Kathy: A+
I booked them for wall draping, ceremony arch, and half of the centerpieces, since I wanted some non-flower centerpieces also. They were great. Reasonable prices and beautiful work. They set up gorgeous crystal Manzanita trees for half of my centerpieces.
Priority Limousine: A+
They aren’t really known for weddings but they had the best prices I found. The limos were in good shape, the drivers were timely, and they let us book them for only an hour. Other companies wanted 2 or 3 hour minimums. The drive from our hotel to venue was literally 5 mintues so the hour minimum was great.
Publix Greenwise Cake: A+
Delicious cake and good price. I wanted a simple white cake with rhinestone banding. I provided the banding so it was a very simple cake to make. They did the job. I chose the vanilla cake with fresh strawberry and vanilla custard and buttercream frosting. Everyone loved it.
Pastor Paul Underhay : A
Very professional and performed a great ceremony. We met with him twice before the wedding to go over our ceremony. We did a unity candle ceremony and the blessing of the hands. It was beautiful. We ran a half hour late on the wedding day and he had another wedding to do that evening but he still didn’t rush through our ceremony.
DJ Ryan Sayeed : A+
Our families are of Caribbean background so we wanted a Caribbean DJ. Our original dj was Walshy Fire, but he had another job come up last minute and sent in another Dj he works with regularly.
Ryan was perfect. We never even gave him a play list, we just told him the kind of music we wanted. He kept the dance floor full all night. The only list we gave him was for the first dances, cake cutting and bouquet/garter toss. He got them all right. We couldn’t have picked a better Dj.
The Borland Center: C-
The actual venue was gorgeous and exactly what we were looking for. Indoor, intimate space, for a reasonable price, where we could bring in our own vendors. We had everything in the theater and the lobby, but they also have a bigger banquet room. The reason they get a C- is because the team there was very difficult to work with in the planning process. It seemed great when we first booked it about a year before our wedding. We met with Terri who had just started working there. There were certain things we talked about that helped us choose that venue, but when we brought them up again a bit before our wedding date, she didn’t remember saying it before. Some examples are that she said our dj could just plug into their state of the art speaker system, which would have saved us money on the dj by him not having to take all his own heavy equipment. Another thing was that she mentioned some of her team being able to help with the flip of our room and setting up the tables and chairs, but that was not the case. All of it was reasonable but just not what we were told in our first meeting. A few times I had to actually copy an old email from her to prove something that we had talked about before. Though I showed her an email where she said dj can plug into the audio and she just ignored it. We changed our dj contract at the last minute just to avoid more issues.
It was always very difficult to get in touch with anyone there and when I did, they often made me feel like I was bothering them. In one email, Terri actually told me that I was getting the deal of a lifetime for what I was paying. I agree that their prices were great but I felt that was rude because I booked it a year before at their rate at the time and their prices had gone up since then. That happens anywhere, it’s not like they were doing us some favor. I know that they were very busy but they just made me feel like I shouldn’t have any questions or concerns and that my wedding day was not an important event.
On the wedding night, it all came together well and was exactly what I wanted but it was a huge headache, leading up to that night. If you book them make sure you get everything in writing and try to keep all correspondence in email so that you have proof. They would have gotten an A if it weren’t for the communication issues.
Chic Makeup by Aimee: A
Aimee was super sweet and fun to work with. She did my wedding makeup exactly like I wanted and exactly like our previous trial. Great prices!
Sugarman Candy Miami: A
I ordered most of the candy for my candy bar here. Great prices and loved the flat rate shipping. If you’re nearby, you can just pick it up for free.
Vistaprint: A
Got my invitations from them. The linen paper was great and they have good prices. I bought a groupon so that made the price even better. I didn’t bother to upgrade the plain envelopes and I thought they were fine. I did order matching personalized address seals for the back of the envelope, which made it prettier.
