So this afternoon my boss IM'ed me and asked me if we could meet in the next half hour or so. I was sort of scared because he never just randomly meets with me. So I get there and sit down, and I go to shut the door and he tells me to leave it open. So then I figure that he just wanted to schedule a meeting between me and another person as we transition some work between ourselves.
instead, my boss's boss walked in, and i was terrified. i thought i was going to be laid off for being behind with my timecards or slow turning in travel receipts. but then i got the best surprise! i got promoted to senior software engineer (i'm only 23!), and got a 8% raise. i'm so happy!
i can't wait to get home and tell Dan
we've always been competing with our salaries. we made a bet over who would get a higher starting salary when we graduated, and said that that person had to take the other one out to a really fancy dinner. well, i won that one, but he's gotten a promotion and a couple raises since then so about a year later he passed me. but now i'm going to be winning again! haha
