alternative to garter toss??

So, my FI and I are not real keen on having the garter toss.  Particularly because the majority of our guests will be our church family and he doesn't want to be lifting my leg up in front of people.  Just not our style...

But, I think I still want to have a bouquet toss.  Is it ok to have the bouquest toss and not the garter toss?  Or can anyone offer suggestions as to an alternative to a garter toss for the guys?

Thanks!
Brooke

Don't feel like you can't do one without the other!  It's your special day.  No one is going to be talking the next day about how you omitted the garter toss!  :)

We don't have many single people at our wedding so we're not doing either.  Sometimes people are embarrassed to get up there and catch the garter or bouquet, so your single guest might be greatful.  To get people involved we are doing a generation dance.  Then giving the buquet and garter to the married couple.

Talk to your band or dj for suggestions too.  They've probably seen it all!

Speak to your DJ he can definetly help with suggestions...if not google search that always helps me when I get stuck.  But ultimately it is you choice and crtainly if it makes you feel uncomfortable then forget about it:)

We only did a bouquet toss and not a garter toss.  My husband's bro and sister-in-law did the same thing and I've had friends who did neither and nobody minded.

We were going to do a anniversary dance and then give my toss boquet to the couple married the longest. As for the garter, I was going to get s/thing special just for my groom.

I was at a wedding where the groom reached under the brides dress like he was going to pull off and toss a garter and came out with some panties that he threw. Lotsa laughs here.

I'm trying to figure out the same thing! I hate the garter toss for the same reason. The only real alternative I've heard of is a couple I know. The husband washed her feet (as a sign of him being to her as Christ was to the Church). He then threw the towel that he dried her feet with.

I like this idea, however am not sure if I'm up for it. However, no one in all the discussions I've looked at has actually mentioned an alternative to the garter besides something like granny underwear or something equally raunchy. I'd like to replace the garter with something, but something meaningful. So, the towel is my best bet so far.
