Re-thinking my DJ.... Help!

Hi girls. So, I booked a DJ several months back, and am very excited about using him and think he'll do a great job. He's doing both the ceremony and reception music for a flat fee. However....I'm paying several hundred more for him than I'd originally budgeted for a DJ. As the wedding's getting closer and all of these expenses are adding up, I'm freaking out a little that we're not going to be able to afford all of these splurges in the end.

Could anyone recommend a good DJ who is under $700?

TIA!!

We used CoopDog Productions. They are based in West Jefferson, Ohio, which is just west of Columbus. I think they were only $450 for the first four hours. They had their own speakers, lights, etc.

I think the fact that you are paying a flat fee for both your ceremony and reception is really good - when you look at some DJs the amount you see is their base fee, and then you need to add on additional hours for the time you want.  Make sure you take that in consideration. :)  We paid a little more than we were expecting for our DJ, but he was awesome.  Many people told us it was the best wedding they had been to, and I think we owe it a lot to our DJ.  I have been to weddings with less expensive, less experienced DJs and bad DJs can really ruin a party.  It doesn't matter how many cute details, etc. you have if your party falls flat, IMHO.  Good luck!!

Thanks, ladies! BCsGal - I appreciate your comment. That's exactly what I've been trying to convince myself of! The DJ we hired had great references and I really loved his personality and style. I thought originally that it was worth the extra money to have someone who would really help lead the day - both ceremony and reception. I'm trying to remind myself why I signed on with him in the first place, and just stick with my original decision. In the end, I hope it will be worth the extra $200 or $300. I think the reality of how much all of this is costing is starting to hit me, and I'm just freaking out a little! ;)
