General rant and a weather question

I'm getting married on Saturday, which I still can't quite wrap my brain around, but it seems like Murphy's Law has just descended on both the wedding and my life lately. First I lost my wallet and had to replace everything in it...of course that happened right at the time I needed to start making final payments. Then I landed in the ER with what turned out to be gallstones. The DIY for my sister's MOH gift turned into a disaster, leaving me scrambling for something I can get her instead. The seamstress screwed up my mom's dress and, as those of you on the Facebook group know, Men's Wearhouse screwed up FI's tux!

Adding insult to injury, my ceremony is supposed to be outdoors and the forecast just keeps getting colder and wetter the closer it gets. I probably wouldn't care if it was just some light rain, it's more the temperature that has me worried. I don't want my guests to be cold!

There is an indoor backup plan, though I hate to use it...I'm just not sure how I would even go about deciding whether or not to pull the proverbial trigger and move the ceremony. Just how cold IS too cold? What's the 'cutoff' point here?

I don't know...I keep trying to tell myself that the only thing that matters in the end is that FI and I wind up married, but it's hard when the list of little things going wrong keeps getting longer. FI and I are both wishing we had decided to elope to Vegas or something and save ourselves all the stress.

I'm having the exact same problem.  I'm not a huge fan of our indoor backup plan either.  The predicted weather temp for Sunday just dropped 7 degrees overnight. I posted on Sunday about what was "too cold" and a lot of the ladies mentioned 60. I think that's what I'm going to use. I think it also depends on what time your ceremony is...mine's in the afternoon so I think that'll make a difference -- it may be chillier for an evening wedding.  When do you have to make the decision? I also think that just going outside for a few minutes will kind of give you a good idea the day of.

It sucks to hear so much is going wrong!  Just try to stay calm, it's only a few more days and then it will all be over...and you'll be married!!

  • Weather.com has the high for Saturday as 60 on the dot. Our ceremony is at 4:30. Unless something changes pretty radically, I guess this means we're going to be inside. I think the thing that pisses me off the most is that the day BEFORE the wedding is supposed to be in the high 70s and sunny! WTH!

  • it also depends if your guest know the ceremony is outside. we went to a wedding two weekends ago that was outside and freezing. the the bride never once mentioned that it would be outside...and that temp was 65 ish. As long as your guests know it is outside, they will bring appropriate items to wear and you'll be fine outside.
  • Honestly, at 60 I would probably stick with outside if you don't like your indoor backup plan.  It's close enough, IMO.  How long will your ceremony be?

  • It's been on our wedding website ever since we booked the venue that the ceremony is outside, so I'm hoping most people know by now. If 60 is the high for the day, it will probably be cooler than that by late afternoon, so that's where the concern is coming from. We're shooting for about 30 minutes for the ceremony, but it's highly likely that people will be outside longer than that, since prelude music and seating start about half an hour before the ceremony 'officially' begins.

Indeed I am...I think I remember that you were local, but I don't think I knew we were date twins! Maybe if both of us do enough hoping, the weather will improve for us.
