Help! Need advice from locals on wedding venues!

Hey! My FI and I are planning on getting married in central Florida around December 30, 2012. He is originally from Orlando but currently we are both in Dallas, TX. We are going to be visiting in the Orlando area right after Christmas this year and are going to begin our quest for a venue.  We are on a super budget because I'm a medical student and he is in Chiropractic school.  Everything I've looked at so far is either out of our price range or not exactly what we're looking for.  Getting married on the beach is a must.  However, we don't want to get married in the sand/water necessarily.  We want to get married near the greenery (bushes, flowers, palm trees, etc.) We would also like to have our reception there.  Our entire budget for the wedding is $5000 and we are going to have anywhere from 50-100 guests... probably closer to the 50 mark because it is a destination wedding.  There are a lot of younger kids in my family/guest list so we are going to try to incorporate attending our wedding as a family vacation to Disney as well.  This being said, we are thinking we need to stick to the beaches over near the East coast because it's only about an hour away. I'm not opposed to West coast though (who can deny those sunset backdrops?!) Anywho, any help towards this will be greatly appreciated.

You can get married at Cocoa Beach Riverfront Park on the grass and near the fountains, but it is on the river. They have the Civic Center there.

You can get married at Milliken's on the deck and the cruise ships and water are in the background.

You could try Cocoa Beach Pier but that's on the sand.

Going down south more, try Pelican Beach clubhouse and get married on the deck? And have the reception inside.

Thank you so much! I see bits of each of those that I enjoy.  I will definitely add them to my list of venues to visit!

hmm...you mean beachside but facing the river? Or landside facing the barrier islands? What about these water ideas:

Indian River Queen Rive Cruise in Cocoa?
    Front Street Civic Center-Melbourne
    Yellow Dog Cafe-Melbourne
Ryckman Park in Melbourne Beach with reception at Dijon's or the community center there
Chart House in Melbourne-always really nice
    <p style="margin-bottom:0in;background:none repeat scroll 0% 0% transparent;font-weight:normal;"> </p><p style="margin-bottom:0in;background:none repeat scroll 0% 0% transparent;"><font color="#000000"><font face="Baskerville Old Face, serif"><font size="2" style="font-size:10pt;"><span style="background:none repeat scroll 0% 0% transparent;">A new place called "The Mansion" in Melbourne is supposed to be opening by the causeway and looks nice too!

Have you thought about renting a house on the beach? Since you have such small number to work with I think you can pull it off. You can go to VRBO.com or just google search it and get all the websites for that. If you get a bigger house your bridesmaids can stay there or family and they can help you pay for the cost!
